Firstly, I have been in-active for a little while, my laptop broke and then I had some personal issues to deal with. However, I plan to be a lot more active again now. Your in-game name: Jaffacake2000 Nick: BringMeTheJaff How old are you? 13. Though young I may seem, I strive to be a mature as possible. What timezone are you in? BST (British Summer Time) What country do you live in? England What languages do you speak? My main language is English though I am fairly fluent in German due to half my family living in Germany. I am also a level 7b in French and familiar with both Turkish and Spanish. I am also great friends with google translate! Also, when I go up to my upper school next year I will be studying Spanish. Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?) No proper bans. Just one mistaken ban when there was a mix up in a report I made. Why do you think you should be a mod? Because I know I can be a mod. I am ready and committed, I understand the people skills, technical skills and motivational skills needed to take on the role of a moderator and believe I can meet the standards needed. As far as I know I have good relationships with many of the players of skyblock, both .org and .net, and although I realize I mustn't let things such as friendships get in the way whilst dealing with difficult situations or bans/reports, I think this brings me closer to the community so I have a better understanding of what different players are like and what most probably happened in tricky and uncertain situations. As well as this I know I can be on a lot. I spend nearly all my spare time on skyblock, forums and server other than the rare occasion I continue with my life. This means I will be able to witness situations and minimize uncertain reports as well as making sure rules are enforced as I’m sure many will agree, when there is no mod online rules seem too often be ignored/"forgotten". Furthermore, I am familiar and confident with the many commands .net uses due to previous experience and further research with bukkit servers and co-moderating. Finally, I believe I’m good at making the right choices and thinking through decisions carefully. As mentioned before, I have become more of a self-reliant person, therefore I have learnt to think carefully through small and big choices. What qualifications do you have? 8C in English? Hehe. Well, I am in fact ‘gifted and talented’ (see more here) in Science, English and ICT. Thanks to this great organisation I was able to attend The ‘First university’ last summer to study website and software development with Wolfy! I can do HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), VB (Visual Basics) and am beginning to teach myself JavaScript and know some of the basics. Although I know I probably won't need these skills as a moderator, I think it shows that I can work towards things and achieve as well as have a greater in-sight in to forum problems when players ask me. As well as this I know for a fact that I excel in most of my subjects at school. I have also become a ‘school councilor’ 3 times, was a lunchtime play-time monitor for a year (working with year 0,1 and 2 students in my lower school to improve their PE skills and give them more enjoyable lunchtimes), I did a programme called 'ToeByToe' in which I helped a year 5 boy improve his speaking and reading skills which has now lead me in Year8 to become a form tutor in which I work with one of the Year 5 forms to improve subject skills and have some fun during form times. Finally I have gained the highest commendation in my school 5 times. I also continue to aim high and have so far achieved all of my target levels. I was a brownie leader and helped my pack, the amazing hedgehogs, gain over 15 different badges in 4 months! I then went on to join guides and the sea cadets, both of which I left when deciding to focus on other aspects of my life for a while, however I did gain skills from these clubs. On minecraft I have now learnt to use a ton of plug-ins and have started constructing my own server (waiting for dad to find the details on our modem, so far un-successful >.>). I've used log blocks to broadcasts and am still continuing to research more plug-ins and gain more experience. As well as this I believe I have developed skills in building and can now make some pretty cool stuff. I've become an official builder on one server and have also helped out on many other servers as a builder. I am leader of the FindYo Team which has sadly sorta stopped due to school-work, hosting issues and not much content from the team. But you can see the website I have constructed here. It's very 80's style paha. A suggestion of mine for the 'Contests' section was accepted as well as being able to like messages. And last but not least, I have lead the rainbow fluffy unicorns to victory many times! How long can you be active on the server everyday? Nvr. Too bizy playin skyblak.net? Weekdays: 4:15 pm to 8/9ish ,breaks with-in that time period for dinner ect. (4-5 hours) Weekends: 8 in the morning to 9 when climbing. And then pretty much till the end of the weekend with breaks in-between. (6+ hours) How long have you been playing skyblock.net? Over a year. I feel I am now strongly connected with the community. Do you have any past experience as a moderator? I've never been an actual moderator but I helped out on 2 different servers as a ‘half-mod’. On one server I accompanied a mod and used log blocks to help find out who greifed ect, I helped guard chat (they didn't have spam guard), helped out people new to the server and let mods know when somebody wasn't following rules. On the second server I helped fix griefs, help out people new to the server, build the new spawn, make sure people followed rules and did jobs for ‘the rich’ ( a sort of category thing for donaters. ). I think the last point especially highlights the fact that I amcommitted and help out whenever, whatever the situation is. I am not currently moderating any servers as I got cut off by the first server and the second one went bankrupt. I believe this is a positive aspect as it means I can dedicate all of my time to skyblock alone. My understanding on the qualities needed to be a moderator: You need to be- Understanding - When dealing with players in stressful situations. Hard-working - When sorting through ban-appeals, amnesty-appeals, reports and filing through messages in-game. Committed - To deal with any situation at any time when needed and to continue with a job however hard, stressful or boring it is. Open-minded - To think through reports and ban-appeals and discover new ways of dealing with situations. Thoughtful - Not only for once again understanding player's emotions in different situations, but to think through situations with more though, understanding and effort. A good role-model - Because players look up to the mods. These are not all of the qualities a mod needs to have but I though these were some of the main ones. Explanation from old app: "Ok, I understand how dodgy this has looked, switching between servers. But it was hard to make a decision and to be honest, I don't think it was very responsible of myself to suddenly apply for .org instead. Hence I decided to learn from that and take some time to think of which server I would be best on. And so I have decided .net. I started out on this server, it's the server I am always comfortable on, have perks on and have made friends with many people on, I also have a stable coop there. I understand how bad this looks but it's what I believe is the best decision after all of this. I then wished to start a fresh mod-app in case players have changed their opinion. Thanks. ^-^ Thank you for reading. Please answer in the poll and post your opinions. If you vote 'No' or 'Dependent' please let me know why below. Thanks again. -Jaff
