I have recently seen many people who have been asking how to use/install the schematica mod, especially now that the island competition is going on. Below is a guide that shows how to install and use this mod. If you are reading this to learn how to submit a schematic file for the competition, follow the instructions, and just upload the schematic file that is talked about later in the thread. I hope this is helpful Part One: Installing Schematica Step One: Downloading the Schematica Mod The first thing that you need to do is find a schematica download. There are many places out there, and you can decide for yourself where you want to get it from. Just look up the version of schematica that you want, and download it. When you download it, it should look something like this. Step Two: Downloading Lunatrius Core The second thing that you need to do is install Lunatrius Core. This must be downloaded for any mod written by this author to work. Make sure that the version of Lunatrius Core corresponds to the version of schematica that you have. Step Three: Installing Forge If you already have forge installed for the correct version, skip this step. The third thing that you must download is forge. You can download this from the official forge website. When you download it, it should look something like this. After installing forge, run the program, and a window should pop up, asking you to allow the program to make changes. Allow it to run. After doing this, you should see a window pop up. Click 'Install Client', then click 'OK'. Now you have successfully installed forge. You must now put the mods into the correct folder. Step Four: Finalizing Everything The last thing that you need to do is put Schematica and Lunatrius Core into a folder. First look in the top right corner of your screen and click this bar. Inside, type %appdata%. It should bring you to a list of folders, and you need to click on the .minecraft folder. It is highlighted down below. The last step is to just paste Lunatrius Core and Schematica into that folder. Optional Step If the game is not running well, you can download optifine, and just drag the .jar file into the mods folder. This will most likely help your performance. Part Two: Using Schematica Step One: Setting Things Up After you have found the build that you want to copy, there are a few things that you need to do. First, change your key binds if you have not done so already. It does not matter what they are. By default, the three main keys that you will be using are the *, /, and - key on the number pad. You then want to go to one corner of the build that you want to copy. Press the save schematic button (* by default). You should see a window that looks like this. make sure that the highlighted button is turned on, and the format is Alpha (standard). Then click the red point button in the middle of your screen. It is always a good idea to find a corner, and go out a few more blocks to ensure that you don't accidentally cut something off in your schematica. Step Two: Making the Schematic File Next, either fly up to the other corner of the build, build up to it, or use the controls on the screen to move the blue point. When the blue point is at the other corner, you should see a box with a green outline. That shows what is going to be saved. It should look something like this. After you do that, enter a name in the black box under the 'ON' button, and hit save. Now you have successfully saved your schematic file. The forums would not let me upload any more pictures, so the rest will be imgur links. Step Three: Using the Schematic Opening the schematic is even easier. Press the Load Schematic key, (/ by default) and it should open up a window. Click on the schematic that you want, and click done. Imgur: The magic of the Internet Imgur: The magic of the Internet Everything is very simple from this point. As soon as you click done, a template of the build will be shown on your screen, and you can start building. There is also a manipulate schematic (- by default) that allows you to move the schematic around. When you originally load it in, it loads it in from your position. The two most useful controls are printer, which makes the build for you as long as you have the blocks for it, and the materials button, which shows how many materials you need for the build, as well as how many of them are already placed. I will not go into detail about the other controls because they are fairly self-explanatory. Imgur: The magic of the Internet Last Step: If you want to download someone else's schematic, or send yours to someone else, simply click the "Open Schematic Folder" button on the load schematic window. Putting a file in that folder will allow you to use that schematic as if you had copied it. These files can also be used by MCEdit to import builds. Congratulations! You should now feel comfortable navigating the schematica mod. If you have any questions, please leave them down below, and I will do my best to answer them.
I usually just use worldedit on a private server to make my schematics as I'm more used to it. But I absolutely love this guide! Goodjob Michael.
Ohh. Great guide! Anyways I use some different way of schematic. I just //copy the build and type some certain schem command then u can paste it in the other world by saving it in some file.
That's interesting. I never knew you could do that. I knew that you could //copy and //paste builds within the same world, but I didn't know that you could transfer them with those plugins. Thanks. I'm glad that this guide helped you
I think that you should be able to, you just have to use a different method. I found a video that shows you how to install mods on a MAC. I skimmed over it and I believe that everything is the same, except the place where you go to put the mods into the folder. I hope this helps.
Oh my God what the actual heck you just gave me some serious Baader-Meinhof right here I was literally just looking at this about 10 minutes ago....
I also recommend world edit for single player which also allows you to save schematics and makes building a breeze. Since I was told about schematica I swear by it as one of the best mods for building.
