So I was tampering around on the internet and got really curious about what it takes to run my own server.

I youtube'd a ton of videos and found myself seeing a lot of people saying to download some links from the minecraft.net website which I did. I then had to download a sky block map as well. Did all that and now I have this log and chat box that is open whenever I am in my server I created.

At this point I'm a little lost. I see that I have certain commands that I can do in my log chat thing, and I can ban and unban people.. etc... What I want to know is how do I create the world that I want. example... the spawn in which everyone will start at? Also the rules like making the world grief proof,... Also what if i want each island to start off with certain things in their chest.

Please only serious and helpful answers. I understand I am a complete noob with this, but I think I got what it takes once I fully can understand how this all works.

    Thanks in advanced!

    Jess

Well, first off you need a bukkit server and not a vanilla server running. Second, you need certain plugins to make it grief proof, ect.. Thrid, when you get the right plugins, you need to configer the files to make the starting items what you want them to be.

That is all I can help you with. kwilson7770 can help you with more of the technical things.

Grief proof the same way that Skyblock does it = WorldGuard
Setting the spawn is usually a simple command of /warp set spawn (depending on the plugins)

If you need more help, just private message me on here

All you do is install bukkit. Copy the world into the bukkit folder and rename it to be whatever it was named before. Then you current world will be loaded into the bukkit world. I know this works for the overworld. Not so sure about the nether or the skyworld
