Players trading dirt is a big problem on .Org. It's basically impossible to police without vigilant mods on all the time. I have seen dirt being traded at least 3 times this week and nothing I can do about it (I was spying on them with invsee). I have some suggestions that might help... 1. Most players don't even realise it's illegal. More promotion of the rules e.g. in broadcast, rulebooks in starter chests and warp signs to /warp rules at spawn are all ideas to help let people know not to trade dirt. 2. Dirt is a reward from mob arena. This is probably unwise. Why not change it to grass ? 3. In /rules illegal to trade items are not listed there. 4. Dirt can be thrown to players easily, I keep receiving it from players who didn't know it was illegal. Pre-reset it used to say "this item cannot be dropped!" and I think bringing this back would help to stop illegal trading and also help to bring awareness to players that it's illegal (e.g. they say in chat "why can't I give my friend this dirt") 5. Better policing - many people get away with it simply because there are no mods on to warn/punish players doing it. The mods we have now are great but .Org simply needs more mods to cope with the many new people joining at least 1/3 of the time I am on there are no mods at all on the server. Probably more of the time. Feel free to comment if you think of anything I missed ... Thanks x
1. Most players don't even realise it's illegal. More promotion of the rules e.g. in broadcast, rulebooks in starter chests and warp signs to /warp rules at spawn are all ideas to help let people know not to trade dirt. I like this. Maybe not too many broadcasts, because the chat on org can vary, but I've always supported the addition of rule books to starter chests on both servers. 2. Dirt is a reward from mob arena. This is probably unwise. Why not change it to grass ? If other things are changed to discourage people from trading dirt, this could probably stay. Although, after you placed the grass they could always just pick it up and trade it as dirt. 3. In /rules illegal to trade items are not listed there. Support. We need that. 4. Dirt can be thrown to players easily, I keep receiving it from players who didn't know it was illegal. Pre-reset it used to say "this item cannot be dropped!" and I think bringing this back would help to stop illegal trading and also help to bring awareness to players that it's illegal (e.g. they say in chat "why can't I give my friend this dirt") Complete support. I'm sure that illegal trading on net would be worse if that warning wasn't there on some items. 5. Better policing - many people get away with it simply because there are no mods on to warn/punish players doing it. The mods we have now are great but .Org simply needs more mods to cope with the many new people joining at least 1/3 of the time I am on there are no mods at all on the server. Probably more of the time. More mods are needed in my opinion. The number of moderators has been declining for a while, I think with some more the server will be moderated more frequently.
Yeah... but what I meant was, some players worked really hard at the mob arena and have a lot of dirt, but this is illegal to trade. If said player doesn't need the dirt it's tempting to try and sell it illegally and newer players might not even realise their mob arena prize was illegal to trade. If it was changed to grass, then players could sell their mob arena prize legally if they don't need it themselves ^^
/warp rules does have illegal to trade items shown. I like the idea of the rule book, making illegal to trade items impossible to drop, and changing ma prize to grass instead of dirt. We also obviously need mods because there are only 3 active full or higher moderators...
Yes, it is his decision at the end of the day. But I find it strange for a server of this size to have no mods on at all much of the time. At least the issue is improved slightly now that Krissy has come back! x
