I know this has been talked about many times before probably but i have not heard about why? why have they not made it where if you place a head you can just pick it back up and it didn't change?

Its basic Minecraft, if you have a head with a special name and place it, it looses its lore. Sure they could change it but it would be like loosing a spawner to the void then having it pop back in your inventory. It ruins the aspect of the rare factor.

 

I’m fairly sure the only way to get lore back on heads is to completely generate a new head manually.

That would have to be done every time someone placed one and picked it up. If you think about historic heads from old DPs, that would take a lot of unnecessary time.

 

Whilst the idea itself is not a bad one, the concept is, people get warned in chat multiple times during the drop parties not to place the heads as they will lose value. Again this doesn’t account for accidents, but if I accidentally lose something in lava, I have no right to demand it back.

Heads are rare, they have value imposed on their demand and the less there are the more value is added. That’s just the way the world works.

Its mostly the players' faults for placing their heads even if they didn't know that would happen. I know accidents can happen aka placing heads accidentally when trying to place them in item frames but there's really nothing that can be done. So you can try and buy a new unplaced head or wait for the next seasonal drop party.
