They performed horribly without crop hoppers. As much as I dislike them, the server was extremely laggy pre-cropper.
I have recently seen a YouTube video not sure if this information is factual so please take what I say with a pinch of salt Certain sources say that placing a cauldron or a composter on top of a hopper makes the hopper cause less lag As I've said previously, I am unaware whether this is factual
I don’t think a cauldron would do anything, but yeah a composter tells the hopper to stop constantly looking for items to pick up off the ground. If I’m using a hopper just to transport items and I don’t need it to pick up items off the ground (and if I can fit a composter in) then I absolutely put a composter on top. I recommend anyone who just has their crophoppers just sitting there to put a composter on top.
I’m not sure that that’s the point lol I think they’re just giving people advice on how to help the server a little.
I'm not a fan of any of these changes to be honest. Map artist's clearing map art will cause a greater lag spike if carpets aren't merging instantly. Sellers will just add 1% to all items on AH. Regarding server rewards. The ratio of 1 SB grass to 1000 skybucks has been waaaaay out for a long time. Mobs taking 2 seconds to merge will mean more mobs near spawners which will restrict spawners from functioning. I used to have a massive stone gen that utilised many many pistons. Instead of further limiting pistons and redstone which has a negative effect on the entire player base, a couple staff members visited me, advised me of the lag it was causing and asked me to change it. I immediately stopped using it and made a new, better, server friendly design.
Are we implying something here? I wish this was still the procedure from what I'm starting to see around That's an interesting concern there, I just assumed they spawned merged. Hopefully this is not the case :c
Regarding the new tax on AH. Have you factored in the 50%+ loss that everyone suffers due to the servers average 9 TPS. As it is, with combined TPS losses and Crophopper taxes, we're already losing 66%
ahhh ty, thought it was like the items not going through the hoppers before they despawned or something
Everything tick related runs slower. Crops, spawners, etc, etc. Tax is deducted every Minecraft day, which at 20TPS occurs every 20 minutes. The image below show consecutive tax times from which you can see that the average Minecraft day is 44 minutes, so that equates to more than 50% loss. No one expects it to run at 20TPS, but no one expects it to run at 9TPS either. The main issue for a lot of players is these losses due to lag, which could be countered to some degree by decreasing taxes, not adding more.
It has its positives and negatives but seems like the rules aren't applied across all mobs possibly. I keep almost all my mobs on a 1x3 platform which should be close enough. When the change was initially applied, I did notice that 3x 99k stacks in my PigZombies had combined into one 300k+ stack. But no NEW spawns are stacking into the big stack or with each other. That 300k+ stack still remains mostly. These are the only mobs I keep on a bigger platform but they still congregate close enough to stack and don't. Zombies don't appear to stack at all and so now that also means my Drowned grinder has been rendered useless. No biggie tho, drowned wasn't popular, only lead to disappointment when a new player thought it would drop a trident. lol Creepers stack within 2 seconds of dropping in. Guardians also appear to be working the same. Skeletons had a much smaller stack after update but now that it's been cleared they also appear to not be stacking Spiders haven't stacked past 8 in a WHILE. Years now. It has always been my slowest grinder as far as amount of mobs waiting for a player to begin grinding. I've always dreamed of a day I can find a stack over 100 waiting! Just putting in my 2 cents cause it has affected my island and mob availability for the new players grinding. I understand it's purpose and I'm totally on board for it, just trying to make sure that the problems I'm experiencing are a feature and not a bug.
Has the ability to push mobs, passive or hostile, also been removed or is that a bug now? I noticed for the last few days that I am no longer able to move any mobs. I usually use it a lot to get mobs into boats or carts to move them around, specially villagers as you cant put a lead on them Edit: No longer can push minecarts or boats either
