    Your in-game name: GAMER1232012

What time zone are you in? EST (UTC−05:00)

What country do you live in? USA

    What languages do you speak?

I primarily speak English, but can also speak Spanish passably well. I’m able to respond to requests and comments by Spanish-speaking players, and have done so many times.

    Do you have 2FA enabled?

    Yes.

Do you have the necessary means of capturing evidence? (i.e. recording software, screenshots, etc)

Yes. I have the generic F2 for screenshots, Windows 10 recording, and Shadowplay

Why do you think you should become a mod?

I’ll write this in Times New Roman so you know that I’m serious about applying :p. I’ve been part of the Skyblock community since 2013, and I’ve had quite a while to observe the workings of the server and the interactions between players and staff. I believe I clearly understand the role of staff, and I’ve asked a few moderators about their own experiences as staff to better acquaint myself with the wide range of responsibilities which moderators have to fulfill.

That said, here are a few things which I think make me a suitable candidate for mod:

    Analytical skills

I pride myself on my ability to quickly and comprehensively understand a situation. I can identify key points and similarities when presented with two sides of an argument (I did parliamentary and congressional debate for a few years), which I think is an important skill for a mod to have. Itcould help me resolve arguments in chat quickly and avoid exacerbating conflicts.

    Functionability

I can operate under stress, both from school and social interactions. I work well under pressure, especially if an important deadline is approaching. I can remain calm when dealing with difficult people, and I often find myself laughing off insults or other ad hominem attacks instead of taking the bait. It also doesn’t hurt that I can type rapidly, and can carry discussions with multiple people at once.

    Approachable

I have an affable nature, and am easily approachable. I’m in charge of customer service at Skysupply, which means I have to ensure people become return customers. I also have a research internship at the Museum of Natural History in New York City, which requires me to present findings to the public from time to time. I get along well with both children and adults, and can offer a decent conversation on just about any topic not pertaining to sports, pop music, or fashion.

I take the initiative to welcome new players as well, and walk them through the basics of skyblock by introducing different warps, shops, and ways they can trade or develop their island instead of waiting for them to ask questions.

    Maturity

I like to think of myself as an able mediator in difficult situations. On most occassions, I can smooth over a conflict before it gets out of hand. I’ve actually had to do this on multiple occasions in my capacity as a research intern. I accommodate people when I’m able, and try to work with them to find something we can both agree on instead of getting combative.

Please don’t take this to mean that I’m indecisive. I’m not afraid to ‘lay down the law’ if the need arises, whether with a friend or someone whom I dislike.

    Unbiased

I’m aware that being a moderator carries certain connotations. I’d have to keep my priorities in order, and wouldn’t be able to give preferential treatment to certain people. I understand this completely, and have experienced being in such a position before. I was the secretary for my school’s badminton team, and had to help decide who to cut, even though many of the candidates were my friends (you can imagine that some of them weren’t very happy with me afterwards).

I think that these traits, taken separately or together, make me an strong candidate for the position of moderator.

How long can you be active on the server everyday?

As a high school junior, I won’t claim that I have unlimited time to devote to the server. However, I can be on for between 2 to 4 hours a day on weekdays, and between 2 and 5 on weekends.

I’m mainly on between the times of 5PM to 9PM Eastern Standard Time on weekdays, after 1PM on Saturday, and between 11AM and 4PM on Sundays.

    For easier reading:

    Monday - (5:00 - 8:00)PM

    Tuesday - (5:00 - 8:00)PM

    Wednesday - (5:00 - 8:00)PM

    Thursday - (5:00 - 8:00)PM

    Friday - (6:00 - 8:30)PM

Saturday - (varies due to badminton schedule)

    Sunday - (11AM - 3PM)

How long have you been playing Skyblock?

I joined somewhere between 2013 and 2014. I was inactive for almost the entirety of the 2016 year. By my best guesstimate, this gives me somewhere between 3 and 4 years of solid playing experience.

Have you ever been banned in the past? (Forums & In-game)

I’ve never been banned or muted.

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?

I’ve run multiple small servers in the past, between 2013 and 2017. None of them had more than 60 people on at once. I’ve also had staff experience on a larger prison server, but the rank I held there could best be compared to a ‘Helper’ on Skyblock. I have limited experience with plugin configuration, but I’m familiar with the in game commands for most mainstream plugins.

Do you meet the requirements for staff?

    Yes.

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Pessimism

Support for now. Leaning to neutral. I’ve seen you on a lot but not helping (from what I’ve seen). You are pretty active on forums so that’s a plus. And I suggest you change your forums name so people know who you are, but that’s just my opinion. Good luck.

I'll take your advice and change my forums name. I've refrained from changing my IGN for the last three months even though I've wanted to really badly so people would be able to recognize me. Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure what you mean by me not helping though. I see you only about three times a week; this might be because I get home late due to my internship on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, I answer as many questions as I can both in chat and in /msg. If I'm ignoring someone's question it's most likely because I'm responding to someone else's question.

Thank you for the support! I appreciate it.

Your a really nice person to be around, and very easy to approach. However I haven't had many opportunities to see you in game, I believe this is due to timezone's, In no way do I think you're inactive but I definitely want to pay more attention when I have the rare moments of seeing you online. I have noticed that you are quite active on the forums and decently active on discord also which is great!
I'm going to go with Neutral, I hope to come back in the next couple of months and change this to support though!

unlike others i reckon the name should be fine. other former mods have had odd names as well. but bloody hell.. it’s the same old mod application for everyone. it always consists of intelligence (of some sort), maturity and compassion and activity. switch it up. no support

Don't you think there's a reason for such redundancy? I'm of the opinion that there are a few characteristics which are especially valuable for a mod to have. You listed them yourself: Maturity, intelligence, compassion and activity.

Most mod applicants include these 'same old' characteristics simply because they're very useful characteristics to have. Me not including them would be like shooting myself in the foot.

Thank you for taking the time to read my application and comment, but I'll decline to switch it up, unless you can come up with something I missed.

I saw people complain about small text before on other people's applications, so I made it one size bigger for easier reading.

Going towards no support. This is because you need to help more. I have seen you sometimes and you don't really help to much. I have only seen you selling things to be honest. We may have different time zones but you are pretty active on forums on the other hand. You also have never been banned which means you could be trustworthy.

When you get to 300 message count, then I may reconsider. :)

    Good Luck.

Thanks for replying! I'm a bit confused as to why I need 300 forum posts instead of the 50 required. Also (and this isn't unique to you only), I don't know why some people have been saying all I do is sell things. It's true that I sell things, but I never ignore people's questions to advertise, and I seldom even advertise in chat unless someone specifically asks for a product I have. I'm at a complete loss at why you hold such an opinion of me, and I'd like you to elaborate.
