For those of you who are to lazy to read through this here's a quick fast review on what's down there:

Q: How do I get an extra sapling??
A: Press "T" and type in the command /Kit sapling.

Q: My sapling won't grow, what should I do??
A: Place a torch beside the sapling, make sure it has enough room to grow or simply use bonemeal.

Q: How Do I place the sapling??
A: Place it on a normal grass block.

Q: How Do I get different types of saplings??
A: Save up grass blocks and go to /Warp trade and use the villager at the left end.

Q: How do I make a Large Jungle Tree??
A: Place four jungle saplings in a 2x2 square and use a bonemeal on either of the saplings.

Q: How do I stop a Large Oak Tree from spawning?
A: Place a Block 8 blocks above the sapling.

Apparently some of you players have a lot of problems with your trees, Have no fear... Hopefully the things I post here regarding to trees will help solve your problem.

    Here are some common Problems:

    1. You have no saplings.
This is an easy one, just Press T And type in the command /kit sapling And Voila! Magically a Sapling will appear in your inventory! Take care with this sapling because you can't get another using the /Kit sapling command for the next 60 Minutes.

    2. My sapling won't grow.
Their can be a couple of reasons for this, Firstly a sapling needs light.. just like every other living thing needs.. well, most.
Try adding a Torch right against your sapling like this:
    imgur: the simple image sharer
If that doesn't work, Try to obtain some bonemeal by placing a Bone (obtained by killing a Skeleton) in one of the 2x2 crafting grid squares. keep in mind that every bone makes 3 Bonemeal so you'll have plenty of wood!
Another reason may be because their isn't enough space for your sapling to grow, so make sure that you planted it in an area with a nice amount of free space.
If this didn't solve your problem, try contacting a Mod.

    3. I can't place the Sapling.
Believe it or not but, I saw this being asked.. Minecraft is a pretty realistic game so all you need to do is get your gears running and think about it, Soil! Trees need dirt to grow so try placing your sapling on a block of dirt (Doesn't need to be a Grass block, Just some plain ol' Dirt)

Here are some more things having to do with trees!

    Large oak trees:

Large Oak Trees can really be a pain when trying to harvest vast amounts of wood fast.
Thankfully.. Our friendly Mod Kl3x showed me this technique a while back which really sped up my wood production.
All you need to do is build a block 8 blocks above your sapling, like so:

(You don't need the Wool, That's just so it's easier for you to count how many blocks up it is).

    Obtaining Different saplings:

This isn't very hard, just follow these simple steps!
    1. Open your Chatbox and type the command /Vote
    2. Vote as many times as you can every 12 hours and accumulate 8 blocks of grass.
    3. Once again open your Chatbox and type the command /Warp trade
    4. Trade with this NPC imgur: the simple image sharer and select the Sapling of choice.
Saplings go for 8 blocks of dirt for a sapling.

    Large Jungle Trees:

These can be used to harvest Large amount of wood, as much as two stacks of solid wood ( 512+ planks ).
Start by placing four jungle saplings in a 2x2 area, like so: imgur: the simple image sharer and then simply use a bonemeal on one of the saplings and a huge tree will appear.. Very huge: imgur: the simple image sharer .

    Some Facts about trees.

Their is a 1/16th chance of getting a sapling from an oak tree so make sure to break all of the leaf blocks! Sapling can be used to make more trees or commonly used as tinder for the furnace!

Oak trees rarely drop apples when hit/decaying, this could help your hunger in the beginning or later on, you can even make some golden apples! (Yum!) ... Funny enough, Oak trees don't usually drop apples but.. anything's possible in Minecraft! :)

Jungle trees also yield Cocoa beans which are used to make cookies (NomNomNom) and then using the log, you can plant cocoa beans and eventually have so many cookies that they'll take over the world!! :D

If you manage to save up enough dirt then you can make a tree farm!

    Hope this helped you!

question - have the server mechanics been manipulated to increase the drop rate of jungle saplings? They have only a 1/40 chance to drop per leaf block broken...(as opposed to the 1/16th chance for all other saplings). If it drop rate hasn't been increased, any chance jungle sapling cost could be reduced? Or do leaves regrow after a time?

No, leaves wont regrow, but if you have cows and wheat and enough buckets, you can make a cake, and trade it in for a sapling. This way you can have unlimited saplings.
