Should Skyblock comply with the EULA?

  1. Yes, I'd prefer it if this server wasn't shut down

I have seen lots of accusations flung and misguided statements about compliance to the new Minecraft EULA.
Summarized, here is what it means in terms of relation to the server:
    • The item shop must go.
    • Kits must either be: Available to ALL players equally, Earnable with in-game currency or straight up removed.
    • Buying people donator for in-game items/currency needs to be a bannable offense, as it classifies as making money from something Mojang has made.
    • A Minecraft server was never intended to be self-sustaining
This may sound awfully restrictive (Which it is) but there are solutions:
    • Selling particle effects! Fire trail anyone?
    • You may sell anything that doesn't limit gameplay.
    • Hats!
    • Pets!
All of these are options, but are compliant with the EULA.
    Please post your responses

Notch's Q&A Can be found here:
    Let’s talk server monetisation!

You are allowed to accept donations
You are allowed to accept donations from players. You can thank them publicly or in-game, but can’t give preferential treatment for donating. You are not allowed to restrict gameplay features in an attempt to make money.

You are allowed to provide in-game advertising or sponsorship opportunities
You are allowed to put adverts in your Minecraft worlds to help with costs. Used within reason, adverts and sponsorship can be appropriate ways to fund a server.

You are allowed to sell in-game items so long as they don’t affect gameplay
We don’t mind you selling items in game, but they must be purely cosmetic. Pets, hats, and particle effects are OK, but swords, invincibility potions, and man-eating pigs are not. We want all players to be presented with the same gameplay features, whether they decide to pay or not. - The kits break this rule, so does the item shop, and the /jump and /fly commands

There is one exception to this rule – capes! We have a lot of fun making cool capes for extra-special members of our community and Minecon attendees. We’d like to keep them as exclusive as possible. So, yeah, no capes please, even if you’re giving them away for free.

You cannot charge real-world cash for in-game currency
We don’t mind in-game currencies which are earned through playing, but you are not allowed to sell them for real-world cash. Remember – if the stuff you sell affects gameplay, we’re not cool with it. - The in-game-items for donor must stop

Mojang have said they will enforce it but they haven't yet so, for the time being, nothing needs to be done.

Enough with these EULA threads. .-.
Crew & Cyp both know about this and will do something about it.

Kits and fly don't change gameplay, just... make it quicker ;)

Also, I think it's more for PvP servers where it's more important

Still. Doesn't effect gameplay... just gives them help in getting kills. Like teaming, Mojang's not going to ban teaming. Cx

Locking cuz I think Cyp gets the picture after the last 50 EULA threads, also to prevent this turning into a debate like ALL the others.

Yes enough EULA threads. This just causes panic and confusion for absolutely no reason.
