Hi all, this is not a suggestion, this is a discussion post about possible ways players could be drawn away from afk farming. Right now, if you have a max-size pig grinder, and let’s say you play for example 3 hours every day, those 3 hours are typically less profitable then if you would have spent 3 hours at the grinder continuing your AFK cycle. I remember on the previous economy server AFK farming did not exist as hoppers were disabled due to a duplication glitch and the way to get cash was grind at creeper grinders with enchanted stone swords and then /warp shop and walk to the sign to sell it. A good errand you could run then sell the items gained to shop while at the keyboard and gain more profits then conventional AFK methods is what I’m trying to explore. It’d benefit the players who actually play the server more over the people who check in on their account every week to see if their account is still online and purchase more spawners for their Auto- grinders or materials for their auto-farms. I’m not sure if this could be replicated or in fact if anything could be done to compete against afking being the number 1 way of gaining money as it seems as if everything in a Minecraft can be automated nowadays.
I’ve been thinking about this myself. There are several issues with what the server makes the most important goal to accomplish. Island leaderboards turned people to place expensive blocks quickly without thought rather than create something beautiful. Top 5 balances at spawn and baltop creates a need to make money and not spend to keep on top. And the easiest profit comes from spawners. Why do we allow every item to be sold to the shop? We could change what people use for profit by restricting what can be sold perhaps. I’m just throwing ideas without thinking because the problem in getting out of the afk pit is doing so will piss people off that they would leave the server or chargeback spawner purchases. I think we are at that point where a radical change would upset too many people... but it’s needed to make the game better.
