To answer your question, anything you say is taken seriously, simply because we can't read your mind. Same thing IRL too. If you walk up to the police station and say you plan to bomb the town hall, expect to be detained for questioning for a while. Likewise if you say you have a bomb at an airport, new prepared to miss the flight.
2 comments. firstly, why are you so obsessed with bombs? secondly, if you blow up a town hall, or an airport, that affects many people. if you dox someone, that affects one, and if that individual is fine with it, so be it.
Let me ask a question back. If it's a solidly written rule, why start to break it BEFORE questioning it? Doxing and threatening of doxing are a serious issue and forbidden to the point that even joking about doxing is forbidden. People were seriously harmed because of doxing. The appeal section is full of player who have experienced the extend of that rule before, who where alledgedly only joking as well. And I'm pretty sure Stel noticed this as well. But she gets her kick from wandering on the thin red line, she can't fight it. She's not allowed to make a victim of herself when she falls off. I mean it's getting a joke, a running gag like (She should make her cover out of this)
i disagree with your point of view. you're assuming that people actually follow the rules. however, the banning moderator didn't even follow the rules. it should be at most a 31 day ban, Stel was perm banned.
I will give you the background of why this ended up as a perm ban and why its better sometimes to make a less of a big deal and just talk it out calmly. The banning mod is native to another server which the rules actually originate from. Meaning their interpretation is quite different to what we have here. Also not knowing who is friends with who made it harder to know if it was truly a joke. However on the banning mods native server joking about things like this with friends is still against the rules as it is easy for a player to say "just kidding" even if they intended it and say "but this person is my friend therefore its ok". Then take into account players history of offenses. Mods are not mind readers and we cannot tell what the intention is, so we tend to punish for what is stated in the rules. So this is where it becomes important to avoid doing questionable things and saying questionable things. Maybe instead of rushing to anger towards the mod, calmly state that the intention was a joke, I was messing around with my friend, mods here are aware of such and so on. It sounds silly to be banned for joking with a friend but at the end of the day you are doing so in a moderated environment that does have rules. If this makes you unhappy then you are free to find another server or just take it to skype, pm, private channel in ts or where there is no moderation.
does that mean if they are from another server and they got the rules from THERE, then you can shorten stels ban? because the rules there say its a perm but its not perm here
Actually the rules on _this_ server state that Perm Bans may apply if the offender is a recalcitrant offender. So no rules have been broken.
I agree with your statement about the player being recalcitrant. I think it's extremely immature for you all to be making such a big deal about the tiniest things, all the time. As well as the fact that others are getting involved in a situation that has nothing to do with them. I think that this should be treated as an appeal and you should only get involved if it has direct correlation with you. In my opinion I think anyone who keeps carrying on and being rude towards the banning moderator as well as others should be temporarily punished. It's frustrating to see moderators getting barred with abusive attitudes and comments from people who aren't even involved - being their friend doesn't give you the right to automatically bash whomever was the enforcer and in this case I think we all know who. I personally agree and stand-by what he did because it was the correct thing to-do and to relate this back into a in-real life standpoint, cops and in this case moderators, don't make the laws they just enforce them. If the immature behavior continues, I wouldn't be surprised if you were dealt with also.
