Unless I am missing something, Dark Oak tress always need 4 saplings to be able to grow into a tree. The trade currently is 6 grass blocks for 1 sapling. With this system, I would need 24 grass blocks to get me started growing Dark Oak trees. I did not realize this with my first purchase, and momentary confusement when it never worked despite many a bonemeal and replanting, until I looked it up on the Minecraft Wiki. All other trees you can start with the 1x1 until you can make the 2x2 when you have sufficient saplings, but Dark Oak is the exception.

Can this be changed? I feel that it is not fair to spend 24 grass blocks for one tree.

Please tell me if I am incorrect, or if I missed a post about this somewhere else.

"Growing these trees requires four dark oak saplings arranged in a 2×2 grid; they will not grow if planted individually. Before the unique log was added, these trees used spruce logs as a placeholder. Dark oak trees grow at a much faster rate than most other trees. This is so far the only tree that can't be grown from one sapling."

 

Ah, uh... How do i put this.
The economy IS NOT decided by the mods, or the admins.
It is decided by the rarity of an item, and how much other people want it.
So... unless cyp added a /kit darkoak, or gave everyone on the server a stack of dark oak saplings, he cant change much about this.

 

I'm just pointing out that paying 24 for one tree seems a little crazy, compared to other, equally rare trees, which are all still 6 and 4 but alright.

Idk if this can be changed with plugins, the fact that dark oak trees take 4 saplings to grow because it's part of minecraft itself and how it was developed, has nothing to do with the server. The prices at /warp grass/trade however can be changed.

You can generally purchase them from players at a much reduced cost of perhaps 1 grass per sapling or less even.
