Please can we add custom armour stands, and invisible item frames (in is item frames are a data pack included with the custom armourstands.) Custom armour stands is a datapackthat enables the features of of regular armour stand. At present, we can only place a skull or a rare drop head item on an armour stand head, and attach regular armour. Eg chest plates and leggings and boots. The custom amour stand, enables so much more, we can choose to show or hide the arms(at present we can't use arms) and also attach items to the hands, eg a tool or a block. If you attach a block to the armour stand, then there are other settings that can enable miniblocks, which are regular items placed on an armour stand and made smaller by the datapack. These can be position adjusted and set to lay flat on the ground. An example could be, having a bookshelf sloted on the armour stands hand slot, then set to lay on the floor, that can look like a small pile of books. Like a custom head in a way. This opens up so much more detailing and decoration options, really the possibilities are unlimited, restricted to your own imagination. Zombiecleo is one of the best armour stand decorators out there, her work is truly incredible. And it goes to show how much we're missing out on. Ofcourse having lots of zrmourstands with a custom position and each their own settings, can cause strain on the server, so there could be a limitation of let's say, 10-20 custom stands per island. Players with drophead that they wished to place, but don't want to break the lore, custom stands would be fab for this. It could open up a new way to display rares also. The other feature, is invisible item frames. This allows maparts to be placed directly on a block, without the ugly wooden frame orders being shown. Seemless maparts. This also allows items to be placed on walls, or floors etc without the frame of the item frames showing. Imagine a wall oof glass, with I visible item frames holding up rares that can now be fully seen on both sides, or for example a build that has costum decorations using itemframes, but with the attached items seamlessly fitting with the builds. Invisible item frames are made by typing /invisible_true/false whilst facing the frames. Similar to how editing a private sign worked. These two suggestions I could see improving and enhancing gameplay on both servers, it would be wonderful to have custom armour stands where we can place regular blocks like mini heads in our builds and to have invisible item frames that can show of our other rares and items in game better
Ive used datapacks in single player before but Im not sure how datapacks work on servers. Does every player have to download this or would everything be server side? Ill be staying neutral maining because Im concerned about the stain of armor stands especially on eco
It would be a custom datapack that's added to the server itself, then a player can craft the statues book, or type a command that brings a gui menu up for them. I don't think that custom stands would create that much strain if they're limited to a certain amount per island. No different to normal stands other than they can be adjusted in better poses. I've used them so often in my creative worlds, for decoration and to display skulls and items better. Invisible item frames wouldn't cause any further strain as its simply a texture update to remove the visible frame itself when triggered. Have a read of the top link, it has better descriptions, and some videos to show how they would work
What’s great for hermitcraft is it’s a server with a maximum player base of like 15 people, plenty of server resources to share, For us it would be a nightmare of entities most likely producing lag. I get it looks nice, but it’s going to add more entity lag across all servers.
I totally get that, however armour stands really don't add that much more stress. And they could easily be limited to a certain amount per players island. The only difference being that the stand has poses, compared to a stand that doesn't. It's already in the game, just not in use. This server has more than enough resources to put towards it, compared to some other datapacks that may create more strains. The gravity could be off by default and the books have a admin command that can clear any old stands that have no add ons. I can think of plenty of ways this could work well if implemented correctly.
Every single item shop with the item display is an armor stand, so adding a few more really shouldn't have that much effect on the server, it would however have more effect on the client side.
I’m not really sure, it’s a good idea but it could cause extra strain. On /skyblock bigger shops lag the whole server, I feel like “a few more” isn’t that great of thinking for certain situations, like this. The server already experiences lag without the custom armor stands, I could only imagine how bad it could get. Aren’t maparts already like this?
Do they lag the server or lag the client, because /skyblock has some pretty decent tps compared to eco
Not quite, any item frame item mapart, tools etc, have the item frame still displayed. For maparts maybe not so noticeable but for any other item that is paced in a frame yous see the frame still. This would be a wonderful way to display other items without having the item frame visible. What jawd says is right, the new shops have a itemfrzme stand built in, however this is a custom datapack itself that allows for item frame displays that can spin, which is probably what makes them laggier. The armour stand poses aren't the same as the chest shop stands. These are stationary the only thing different from the regular stands are that you have an option to add items to the arms, and can make the stand smaller for mini blocks, and you can position them to look like they're placed. This would enhance the way items are displayed and if they were to cause excess lag, then they could be limited. Like hoppers and spawnrs are. Shop chests aren't limited, nor are regular armour stands, so I don't see them adding that much more to the server side lag. Client side sure more entities will always make slower computers lag more. But that wouldn't be the same for everyone. Invisible frames won't cause any further lag, and empty ones could be purged by staff now and then, custom stands may cause some lag but I really don't see them adding thst much more. I've used them to create custom player figures all around my single play creative world without any impacts of them. The only lag would come from if they have gravity enabled, which staff can turn off by default and remove that as an option. And as mentioned, any stands not in use, empty ones can be purged from within the datapack
Personally I see this creating more lag than you believe it will, Dexuby may be able to relate more in-depth about entity’s and how they react within the server. We recently had a hopper minecart limit imposed due to the implication on entity count and lag created by these when everyone tried to bypass hopper count/limitations using those instead, we want a better server with better things for sure, but server stability is the priority over QOL additions.
Eco cant even go a day without crashing. Entities have been an issue (on eco) for a while and giving people another permanent entity to use probably wouldnt help. Changing from neutral to no support sadly
I don’t see how this realistically improves QOL on the server at all to be honest. I haven’t really ever seen anyone complain about armor stands or request non vanilla modifications such as this, or even desire it. In addition, if you want invisible item frames, that’s why texture packs exist. This would be catering to a very minute (if existing) portion of the playerbase and just unnecessarily strays the server towards a less vanilla experience imo.
Many players have wished to be able to place their Rares, or Drop party Heads, without breaking its lore. Having an armour stand book that very simply allows you modify its positions, to allow your heads to look like they're placed neatly on the floor, would be a great new way to show off items that couldn't usually be placed. Just because players haven't requested this particular datapck before doesn't invasive its worth being added to the server. As you say, , being able to adjust a very few poses within the armour stand itself wouldn't create any drastic changes. Not many players would be using it in excess, and for the few that wish to, that would enhance being able to showcase valubles better, and even just create new ways to decorate our islands. It wouldn't necessarily be a change to add into the game right this minute, as ofcourse the server only recently updated and many features of the update haven't been implemented yet. Spawners being a particular one. However when the server does run better and has been fully updated, I thi k this eould be great to add. The invisible item frames whilst yes would work client side as a texture pack, being able to have that as an included option anyway would be cool too. Its included with the armour stands.
Unfortunately datapacks naturally have horrible performance and you can't rely on them in a production environment. The new shop system adds 0 entities to the server, they are all client sided. The lag you are describing is client sided/only affects your FPS. In general armor stands that don't move are rather lightweight on the server side however a limit would still be required.
You can get invisible item frames in vanilla but not sure how to add it into the game since it's only obtained by commnads
The command is /trigger if_invisible In offline I think that's it, so on server it could work the same, /if_invisible whilst facing the frames
There was a period of time where visiting any island with larger amounts of shops (ex. Talisbar or ak2382) would cause everyone in the chat to complain about the whole server suddenly lagging due to the entities on the island, but I believe this was also due to the fact it was the entities stacking (but switching it to “stand” mode didn’t do much better & when someone would visit the islands people would still complain)
