There have been rumors of Mojang cracking down on servers falling outside of the EULA , specifically the Commercial Use part. They seem to be focusing on servers that offer advantages to players who pay server owners. Anyone care to comment or discuss if we should be worried ? PS Original Redditt thread that got me thinking.
What makes you say that ? Denial ? It specifically says a server should *not* allow rewards unless they're applied to all players. To me that means any server that allows buying ranks or Donor levels is in trouble. It makes me worried :/
I doubt that this will go to fruition. This would corrupt their own business and end up making Microsoft lose millions of dollars, which they do not want to do right now, as they currently hold an upper hand on apple because of the FBI apple thingy.
We're all fine. Awhile back, when I was actually getting donor25 on org, this came up as a topic of discussion, because the same exact thing as this was happening. Nothing did happen, and now it's a year later. It's fine, don't stress about it :3
These EULAs are outdated. I myself freaked out about this too 1.5 years ago. [IMPORTANT] New Mojang EULA Doesn't Allow Donor Kits | Skyblock Forums
That isn't really an issue or whatever and the server has nothing to fear because their not breaking any of the ToS, just like Stel said; we're donating, it'd be different if you had to pay to play on a server or whatever that would be. Regardless if it was still valid nothing would happen to our little community. They probably wouldnt even bother with us if we did do anything which was breaking it, it'd cost them too much money and time.
Eula really only applies to things that change game sense and basically pay to win stuff. Many other large servers have actually changed their donor rank system to only include cosmetics etc. Like pets and name tags titles particles and nicknames. Those don't actually violate the Eula. The whole point of having the Eula is to cut down on pay to win servers. The chance of mojang checking every server for Eula is a lot of work everything in kits is technically obtainable in game as well. AND this server isn't pay to win (personal opinion) so chances of moJang actually putting the effort to shut it down is a lot (pretty sure that they'll have to file a lawsuit or something to shut any server down)
All servers that bring in any amount of money are p2w. This is literally the definition of capitalism btw.
