Joining a coop may be fun but there are a few things to note when joining or starting: Firstly you lose the island you worked on before doing /coop accept unless you were in a coop before joining another one. If you are inviting someone to join they will, without punishment, be able to destroy and place blocks as that becomes their island too. Logically it follows that one cannot grief their own island. Mods cannot refund you if you accidentally join a coop and lose your own island, so if you get a request its easier to let it time out than accidentally typing /coop accept (This has happened before). If your coop leader becomes inactive it becomes very hard to change leaders. You will not lose your armour what you were wearing as a /hat, enderchest or balance (/bal on org only) When giving your coop members dirt, sand and buckets (all illegal to trade items outside coops) use a chest on your island, not public trade rooms (such as /warp skybase on .net) or mods may think you are illegal trading when they check the chest logs. If you play on org or hellblock, if you are not the coop leader, when you connect, you will be teleported to spawn. On .org, and use minechat, this means you will not be able to talk or use commands. Some tips to have a good coop: Only invite people you trust and/or know Make sure to screenshot any agreements you make with a coop member so if they do something you said not to they can be punished. Make sure you can easily contact the coop leader in case of issues. Starting from scratch (new starter island) is good to get all members involved. Don't let the coop have access to every chest, only the necessary ones. Ensure that you tell all coop members to leave important supplies in a chest that everyone can have access to so they do not log out with essential items such as buckets. If you have had any coop problems to share or suggestions for this list, please comment and I will add them in
I have a dream, that, one day, all stickied posts will be merged into one big sticky post... For the benefit and well-being of the community.
If you see that you are the one doing all the work, try talking to your coops and explaining them that they should build stuff too
I'm not sure but I think that you also lose what's in your ender chest when you join a different coop so if that really is true, it would be a good thing to add.
Oh, ok thanks for telling me, another player told me that I would lose my enderchest but I wasn't completely sure.
Make sure every member of the coop deposits his items into accessible chests whenever they need to log off. We don't want someone to log off with the only bucket available, do we?
Is it usefull to add that if you are not the owner of an island, you'll always be at spawn on reconnect ?
This is a great way for newcomers to be sure that they want to join a coop. I also like the fact that you included some facts on how to keep your coop going fine and dandy, great work!
