Simple question. Is there a way to put a sign on a chest, e.g. to write on it what is in it, without it becoming a lockette?
Any sign you place on a chest, whether you shift or not, will be a Lockette. I don't know about Trapped Chests, as I've not tested that.
As Finical as said, you can't place a sign on a chest without it becoming a lockette automatically. You can place the sign ontop of the chest or next to it, otherwise you could lock the chest then type /lockette 4 (label you want). It will lock the chest, but you will have a label for it. Do you have any further question, or may this be closed now?
so if I type /lockette 4 Stone the lockette will Show "locked Stone" or only "Stone", right? (can't go online right now to try). This would suit my Needs.

Thank you Blyx. I'm online now and can't get your method to work Love__ . Is this trick for .net? I took a sign and wrote what you said in different ways without success.
The lockette will still show [Private] and your name underneath the lockette text. There is no way to remove this completely and make it a regular sign. However, you can bypass this and still add the item you want on instead by using this command: In my example image, I used /lockette 4 Stone, which turned my sign from this, to this: You can also add colour codes in to this, by just doing your desired colour code infront of the word you wish to put on the sign. I did /lockette 4 &8stone, and it looks like this: Does this make it clearer?
Ah, command line.... I tried to write it on the sign... Great, now it worked, this time you can lock for good and have my gratitude
Be aware that if you label the chest this way, the minecraft user named Stone will be able to access your chest (but only if they are are cooped or trusted of course XD) Closing thread upon request
