i extracted it from winrar into my versions and i went into the launcher and it didnt show up...

 

You have to extract it from the zip folder and then you open the .jar and make sure you have the version you want loaded in Minecraft - it will automatically install if you click the .jar.

If you can't figure it out, then uninstall WinRAR or look for a video on Youtube so you can find it all out.

 

You don't need to uninstall winrar, you just need to have java to open the .jar file.
