Hi!
I haven't been playing on Skyblock for months or even years, and now that I'm playing again, I realized how much the spawn changed.
Today I've seen a lot of players asking in the chat "How can we share one island?", "Where's my lava bucket?" or "Where can I find item XY?", and I helped them.
Also /warp tradeshop is outdated, it's just a chest marked as private.

Now I think it's bad for new players: I had to /msg multiple players that wanted to buy buckets. I think it's because when you join the server and playing the first time, the only information you get is how to make a new island, how to invite someone, and how to start over. Yes, of course, that's important, but I think it might be also useful to write something like "Please read the rules at /warp rules!" or "Check out the warps by doing /warp!". Maybe it's there somewhere, I don't know, maybe I'm blind.

There are also messages from the server ("Mob Arena finished!", "Tradeshop Tutorial at /warp tradeshop" or something like that), but then you have to wait till you get the message that gives you the information you need, and in that time you can easily make mistakes etc.

To cut it short: I suggest building in a book that new players get, or a kit that is mentioned at the spawn that gives you that book, with the most important commands (like "/sbhelp" or "/home", "/warp" etc.) that may or may not be already written down on signs somewhere at the spawn. I also visited an island with all those rules and commands, but I can't remember the playername anymore...

Oh, and an updated /warp tradeshop...or at least remove the server message that leads you there...

Maybe this has been already suggested, but I'll just write it anyway. I don't want to say that the new spawn is bad (it's way cooler than the old one), I'm just saying that I'd like to see more information for completely new players there...the main commands (/newisland) are there, but there are tons of other rules and important things that should be mentioned.

 

/visit skyblockhelp has all of these.

 

Yes! I've been on that island, but I found it trough the chat. I can't see anything at the spawn that leads to that island, and that's what I mean.
Like I already said: Maybe I'm just blind right now and can't see it...

 

Yeah there's really no way for people to know about it other than players telling them about it. I try to keep people informed as much as I can but I don't think Cyp plans on turning it into a warp, despite the amount of work that went into it.

 

There is now a pop-up that says if you need help. do /visit sbhelp. (I think it that command)

 

But I would at least mention it at the spawn or...I don't know, but now that I know the name again I'll tell it everyone who's asking for help too.

Really? I haven't seen it yet...but still, there are multiple messages so till you get that one you can ruin your whole island. But it's still better than nothing, so I guess this will do it for a while. :cat

I've never noticed the pop-up either. I don't think it's a thing. I can't think of another way to make sure that people know.
