If I play using 1.12.2 forge, if I enter and exit fullscreen, the game glitches very bizzarely and may even give people seizures under the right circumstances. I can still interact with the game normally but the screen is still messed up. I removed all of my mods, which didn't help the issue. I can only fix the issue if I use vanilla Minecraft, which I don't want to do since these mods are very useful. Now this shouldn't really matter, but fullscreen can be glitched (not in a graphical way) to afk mine forever, and one of my game directories/installations is stuck in fullscreen (when I open it, it automatically goes to fullscreen). I don't usually use fullscreen because the text gets more in the way using it, making this very annoying.

If everyone else was experiencing this issue, I should have found it online, but found nothing. Please help, if I was prone to seizures I would be in the hospital already.

Hello. Sorry you are having trouble. Not quite sure what caused your game to glitch. Does pressing F11 not make you leave full screen mode? Can you switch it back from full screen? If you leave the game in not full screen mode, does it launch in full screen the next time you open it? If you could describe more of what is happening, the extra info could help.

I think that you can use the minecraft launcher to change how big the screen is before you start the game.

Click on Installations, then find your Forge 1.12 and then click on the dots next to the play button to reveal the Edit option.

Click on the icon that looks like a computer screen to see the size options. Maybe you can click on one of the smaller once, click save, and then hit the play button. Then I think your game should open at the size you selected instead of full screen.

If that doesn't work, I think you might be able to try this method. If you can find your .minecraft folder, there is a .txt file called options. This controls your settings and it auto saves from when you leave the game. You can open that, overwrite sections, and save so that it can can affect the next time you open minecraft.

This is a great wiki I use all the time for minecraft research. Here is a link about it the options file.

    options.txt – Official Minecraft Wiki

I highlighted the part that controls if your game opens in fullscreen or not in the picture below. The default for this feature is "false."

Below is a picture of inside my .minecraft folder. Highlighted is the .txt file I mentioned.

Open that and just scroll down to you get to here.

Make sure the line says, "fullscreen:false" then click on File and then save your change.

This should hopefully clear up the matter next time you run minecraft.

If all else fails, then your best option might be to delete your forge mod and install a fresh copy. Please keep updating your status.

    • I can switch between fullscreen and not full screen just fine
    • On one of my forge profiles on the launcher, playing on it results in a not full screen mode on launch, on my other profile (using a different directory and txt file, but the same copy of forge), it always launches on fullscreen regardless whether I was on full screen last time or not.
    • On both forge profiles, graphical glitches occur when I exit out of fullscreen (but not when the game starts in fullscreen). Imagine if the game is frozen, but not quite frozen. The game mechanics itself are normal (in game screenshots don't show these graphical glitches), but everything's either flashing black or everything's really jittery. Sometimes, I see nothing but the sky in Minecraft (sometimes a black bar-ish shape takes up the entire screen), but I can still see the sun rising. I'll post screenshots of these glitches later.
