There are plugins out there that keep trading legit:
Trade - Bukkit
I saw 1 comment that said there was a dupe bug... So, you might wanna wait for it to be patched before downloading that one... But, that is just one example. There are many other trading plugins.
I highly suggest, to decrease scamming, to get a Trading Plugin that has an "Accept or Reject" method where if someone requests a trade and you accept the trade request, you both have to accept the actual trade for it to work. :3

 

Yeah. Well, its one of the most recently updated trading plugin so thats why I picked it but here are a few more that I found:

I don't really know much about this but all I want is to decrease scammers...
Just yesterday, I was in a mid trade, some guy was shifting behind a wall for the trade to begin so when the items dropped, he would steal them. Luckily I got my items... After that, I dislike trading worrying I'll lose valuables. Thats why a trading plugin would be so great. It could reduce scams

 

You don't have to use the currency as stated in the video. It is COMPATIBLE with Iconomy, but you don't need it. Therefore it works both with .net and .org
