Hey Abbie, thanks for your appeal, I'll jump right in.

As I explained briefly in your discord ticket, you were banned for profiting off a mistake Kerahna made when she returned items to you back in the end of August. Kerahna kindly returned 48 potions that was claimed to have disappeared from a shulker you had, but instead of giving you 48 healing potions, she gave you 48 lingering healing potions. These potions are unobtainable since they require dragon's breath to create. Due to this, they essentially became an unintentional rare.

Due to the magnitude of this error, you should have reported the mistake to Kerahna immediately in order to get the correct potions, but you instead took them without comment and later began to resell them. You sold potions but also made tipped arrows and sold those too for outrageous prices. This is profiting off of an error and is considered to be similar in severity to exploiting a bug for financial gain, for example.

Is there a specific reason why you chose to keep quiet about this instead of reporting the error? You have easily made 20+ million because of this situation.

Your /seen has shown you were last online aprox 17 hours ago.

Hopefully this clears up the questions you've had thus far. Thank you,

    Bree

I logged on twice in the last three+ weeks. Once on computer to restock my spawn casino, and to make survival mapart, and once as tou mention briefly using chatcrFt. As someone said my casino had been closed off and I didn't know why or what happened. I've barely been on the last few weeks other than that.

I'm not sure how you've come to quote this figure?

When I lost my items (stacked shop bought items from the old shop menu), I opened a ticket for help to recover the lost items. As many of them were donated as Christmas presents to me last year. Amongst them were stacked instant health 2 potions. These were lost due to servers error when closing znd reopening the shulker as mentioned in that relevant thread.

After many weeks/months, I eventually had some of the items replaced. These were placed by staff themselves onto of my resource casino contained in three double chests with the other items too.

I had kept those potions in the chest exactly where staff placed them, for ages. I didn't realise these were lingering potions, rather than regular instant health 2 potions, I assumed they were replaced correctly at the time, just not as stacks how they were bought from the store.

I was invited to a in game party/celebration for a friend's birthday. I collected a few of the potions and shared them around with my friends free. I threw a few on the floor whilst we were partying, of which players were picking up the potion effect. It was after then one of my friends pointed out that these are actually lingering potions and asked how I had them, to which I've explained about about original potions being lost znd these being replaced for me.

I still at this point had most of the potions stored in the same chest that staff put them in.

At the advice of one of my friends who showed me that they were lingering potions, they suggested that I could possibly start selling them and earn some money from them. Considering I've given near half of them away free to friends when sharing them, I was happy to have something as a rare to be able to share with people. Many big rares collectors showed interest to add one to their collection, so I made offers to sell them.

Learning more about what lingering potions are, I realised that they were technically unobtainable, seeing how the server doesn't have dragons breath to craft them, I decided to try see if I can make the tipped arrows. And it worked at my surprise. So sure I thought to sell some of them too. And also give some away and try to use them myself too.

Unfortunately when testing using the tipped arrows they didn't fire with their particles which would have been cool to see working.

I realise now that I should have spoken to staff regarding being given the wrong items, and maybe the staff could have allowed me to keep them as an exception, considering its been many months since I was given the potions, I hadn't really thought much more of it since.

I've been offline most of this month as I mentioned so I was surprised to see a month long ban issued this morning early hours.

I've seen other players with Dragon's Breath potions on display in their rares museums, so there is a possibility of other lingering potions existing.

Lingering potions don't harm the server or other players, they were given to me as replacements to lost stacked instant health 2 splash potions, those old potions can't be bought from the economy shop anymore and if I'd have been able to keep my original potions without them getting voided inside of a shulker(which was servers error) then I'd have still had 4 stacks of potions from the old shop menu that can't be obtained either. So I really don't see much difference between having old potions or lingering ones in this sense.

They were given to me at the fault of the staff, not that I'm blaming the staff for doing so, rather that they gave me the incorrect potions, which is at no fault of my own. I've kept the potions where I was given them for long enough for that staff member to realise or replace them correctly and in my forum threads about the bug issue, I specified exactly what potions were missing with screenshots too. So being given lingering potions instead of splash potions should have been reasons for me to keep them in my collection.

No worries, this doesn't have anything to do with the issue at hand anyway. :)

This was an estimate due to the fact you were given 48 potions, of which you could've made 8 arrows per potion. That equals 384 possible arrows, of which you were selling each one for 400-500k per. That equals out to a load of money; our estimate was fairly conservative. You also sold some potions straight up it seems, so I would assume you would've sold those for a hefty price as well. A player helped to provide these estimates, and they made sense given the information we had.

The bug you claimed to have deleted your shulker was never confirmed, Kerahna just kindly returned the items anyway.

Once you were informed by your friends that the potions were unobtainable that would've been the best time to contact staff about the error. You used the situation to your profit once you realized, instead of doing the right thing and reporting it.

While it's nice you gave some of the items away, it still isn't right that you continued to keep them after fully knowing they weren't items you were meant to have.

The potions/arrows were reported to staff yesterday as being unobtainable after being spotted on /ah. I was under advisement by Kerahna to punish you in this manner.

If other players have illegal items, it's best that we figure out how the items came to be and to prevent more unintentional rates from entering the game.

There's a lot of a difference between the two, one was in the game and obtainable for everyone at some point, these lingering ones were introduced to the game by accident and since they were given to you specifically, it gives you a huge advantage over others. We do not want players to have items that weren't intentional to prevent an overinflated rares market. However, now that they have been widely distributed there isn't much we can do.

You're right - being given the incorrect potions was not your fault. However, keeping them once you realized the mistake was an error on your part.

That refund was issued by one member of staff, Kerahna. Other staff do not get involved with other people's cases because there's no need to, so there is no way other staff would have caught this mistake. It is up to you as the player to report errors such as this. Just because it has been so long doesn't mean you just get to keep the items at this point. Same goes for the unproven server "bug", this isn't a reason you should be able to keep the items. Your potions and arrows have been confiscated, along with your /bal due to this.

I hope you now understand why you should've done the right thing from the start and how this may impact the game negatively going forward.

Although I didn't have video proof, I screenshotted before I moved items to my shulker znd then immediately after when I moved znd opened it. The logs should have all been there. I politely requested if I could have the screenshot items replaced and am thankful that kerahana offered to do so. This took several bug issue posts and tickets to get resolved. Eventually kerhana offered to replace my items after some considerably amount of time had passed since my first bug report.

Initially I didn't even realise they were lingering. I assumed they were normal splash potions as lingering wasn't a thing on the server. So ibdidnt realise they were lingering potions until after I'd thrown a few away and given some away. That's how one of my friends noticed and asked me about them, to which thats how I found out these were in fact lingering and not normal splash.

I must have given away a good ten of them that day, I was excited to have something new ii didn't have any intentions to sell them or profit off them at that time. It may not have been right for me to give them away to players but at that time I wasn't profiting or earning any benefits from having them.

As mentioned above I kept them at that time because I was happy to have something new and different to be able to share with friends and players.

However yes, I should have notified staff sooner and spoken about being issued incorrect items by mistake.

One of my friends mentioned that maybe I could start selling these potions as rares, because a lot of collectors would be interested. I gave a few to my friend to share with her friends and I offered a few up for sale on _AH. I listed at the price I felt seemed reasonable and not greedy, using the opportunity that had presented itself to me to share my potions with people rather than board them all to myself. Did I want to earn some profit, sure. Because who wouldn't have wanted to. Was this the correct decision to make, probably not.

I've sold a few potions as is for around 1m each. I felt this was a fair value for something that was likely a new rare. I've created about 16 arrows, mainly for my own collection but also to try and see if using tipped arrows actually worked with their particles, however sadly they didn't. They simply disappeared when fired.
I've sold a few arrows on ah for around 400-500k, but the only ones I had left on ah, were the same arrows I'd been trying to sell for many weeks now, just by reposting the same ones.

Cressyn also has been selling the arrows the same way. I had no intentions to profit off any further lingering potions, as all the main collectors had already asked for one znd I'd given some free already too and used the rest. So maybe I had like 10 potions left which I wanted to keep for display purposes.

Whilst your estimate could theoretically be correct, assuming I've profited 20mil+ isn't a fair statement to make.

This may be a bit off topic, but what harm do the lingering potions actually do to the server or players, and what reasons are there to not include them as part of the skyblock experience? They could be sold from wandering traders, gradually be introduced as a new and fun way to play in game using potions.

As mentioned someone else has a dragons breath potions, that hasn't hurt anyone either.

Being able to use lingering potions has become fun and interesting, shaping up a new experience on collecting rares too.

I understand these are unintentional rares, but could lingering potions be included eventually on skyblock?

I can understand how keeping incorrect items was wrong, however this wasn't an unproven server bug. This was an item refund request, which (without being offensive or rude,) keehana had given incorrectly.

Whilst yes it would be my responsibility to report the wrong items as soon as I'd realised, I do also feel that the staff who issued the items should have realised this too at the time of giving the new items.

I had everything I lost clearly stated, splash instant health 2 potions that were bought from the old shop as stacked items.

When accessing a creative menu, kerahna would have seen the word "lingering" when finding the potions. I do not feel as though this should be my fault for not realising sooner. Every other item I was given was correct, minus enchants on my tools. So I didn't assume any different for the potions that had been given to me by admin staff themselves.

I feel as though, if your allowing others that have bought or traded these potions and arrows to keep them, then I should be allowed to as well.

Taking my 8 million balance from economy wasn't fair, as I'd literally sold my November top voter giftcard to earn that money only a few days ago, having nothing to do with these potions or arrows.

By allowing other people to keep the potions this is also allowing other people to profit too. So it isn't exactly like I'm the sole person that has sold for profits.

I am willing to work out how much I've earned from selling them however and agreeing to a payment plan eith staff in order to give back to the server the profits I'd earned.

I'll wait your next response, and see if we can work out a way forwards.

maybe that could maybe allow me to hold onto my potions, seeing as I no longer sell or trade them.

Continuing to argue against the ban will not help your case. I am not convinced you truly believe that was you did was right, due to the lengths you went to hide it from staff.
What you should have done is tell me about it from the beginning as soon as you noticed, instead of secretly making a huge profit.

based on your price of $500k and having received 48 of them, we estimate your profit to be 24 million, so removing only 7 million and a few leftover items is actually going pretty easy on you. The other players will not be punished because they, unlike you, did not know it was a mistake.

The purpose of a ban appeal is for a player to show they understood the reason for ban and reassure staff that they will not repeat the same mistake. By arguing against the ban, it demonstrates a failure of understanding proper conduct which is the bare minimum for an appeal to continue.

I will give you one opportunity to change your approach to this appeal for the potential to shorten your ban, otherwise this appeal will be denied.

I have explained though, that I have used some of the potions, by throwing them on the floor when with many players, I've dropped them free for people. I've only sold a small amount of them as I genuinely wanted to keep the rest, happy to have some items that don't harm other players, that was near identical to the items I'd lost and proven at the time. The logs exited to be double checked I asked for items that had sentimental feelings, Xmas gifts from players that no longer play here that were lost to the server glitching the stacked items. I feel like I'd fairly have the right to keep the items that were lost and replaced as they were replaced.

I've accepted that I should have told staff sooner when I realised the potions were lingering ones, and in fact I hadn't moved any of them from the chests they were placed in for many weeks before sharing them at a friend's birthday party event on the server (of which multiple players, 5-10+ were there picking up the potions which I thought were simply splash potions and I shared them as a kind gesture for friends and players that were celebrating at the time.

It was only after then one of the people at the event mssged me about them being lingering ones and could be rare.

I should have told kerhana at this point about them.

However I didn't think of keeping them with intents to profit from them all. Sure I thought that selling a few of them would be okay. I feel like the price I started to sell some for was reasonable, but only sold them to a few players that showed interest to. For anyone that's asked me how I've obtained the potions, I have told them that they were given by mistake instead of splash ones, and I'd only be selling a few. This was my thinking in the sense of earning something from potions that I otherwise had been given incorrectly.

The only differences between them being lingering and not splash is their name, and effect of lasting on the floor longer when thrown. Otherwise they were the same as the normal splash potions, so I wasn't expecting to be given any different than what I'd lost and asked to be replaced with.

I've asked about working with staff to reclaim them as I know who I've given them or sold them to, but allowing other people to now keep and resell the ones they've already bought from me is unfair. Those people are profiting over my loss, and staff error. I have been very clear on what items I asked about being replaced, not being rude to kerhana, but with giving me lingering potions, which look almost identical to splash potions, of the same effect, shouldnt be my fault. I should be allowed to keep the potions, which replaced 4 stacks of instant health 2 splash potions that the server lost from me, which now other people are profiting and sharing. This makes it feel like I've been taken from twice. Once when my entire shulker of last years Christmas gifts was wiped completely, and now again once I'd been given by staff some items that could help make up for the loss.

I see it both ways. Yes I should have given staff earlier notice. But I've been very generous over sharing them with every player, I've wanted to earn a little bit of money from them which should be fair enough without selling them for extortionate prices like someone's asked to sell a dragons breath potion for., and now other players are enjoying being able to share a unique and fun potion that actually does something fun with other players which I think is wonderful. I've suggested that maybe lingering potions could be introduced to the trader, or some similar shop, as they don't hurt anyone other than bring fun into the game. I've kept about half of the ones I didn't already use previously at the birthday party or givenaway and used a few of them myself in testing them around my island but haven't hurt anyone with them and anyone that's wanted to buy one I've told them how I came came have them.

I feel also, that taking them away from me but also then removing balance that holds no relation at all to the potions is another unfair move. I'd logged on the day before you issued my ban to accept a giftcard trade which I'd earned honestly throughout that entire month voting every day, and feel like this been taken simply because I'd increased my balance to 8 mil from that trade, and had I waited on selling the giftcard you may have come to a different agreement on what pu ishment was right.

I'm not trying to argue that I'm right, I'm trying to explain that I understand I'm wrong to have not reported the incorrect items sooner, whilst giving fair reasons why I feel my appeal should be considered.

Hi Abbie, I apologize for the delay in a response here. Both Kerahna and I have had very busy schedules with work leading up to Christmas. We really appreciate your patience with us.

We can't verify how many you dropped or sold, so 7 million is a small price to pay for this incident. You said you sold a few potions for 1 mil each, and a few arrows for 400-500k each. 7 million seems pretty close to the actual amount in our opinion.

Thank you for recognizing that you should've informed staff of the incident at this time, it's unfortunate you chose not to though. We only confiscate items such as these as they were unintentional and we try to keep as many of these rares out of the game to keep it fair for everyone, as I have already explained.

Anything that's unobtainable in-game is actually a pretty big deal in terms of the economy. We try our best to maintain it when we can, so throwing in extra rares isn't ideal. Maybe it wasn't your first thought when obtaining the potions, but it still isn't a good look when you continued to profit after you knew you technically shouldn't have them in the first place. Hopefully you can understand where we're coming from with this.

As I explained elsewhere and here, Kerahna took 7 mil and the few potions we could find in your possession to reclaim the profits made from the potions. This is hopefully to make you think twice in case something like this happens in the future some time.

At this point we aren't interested in introducing the potions to the game on a grander scale. While the potions themselves don't hurt the game, their value can impact the economy. We've established that you did not know they were the wrong potions until someone else informed you, however, still keeping them is the main issue here.

The money you earned from selling potions/arrows was likely spent, so the 7mil from your giftcard trade was unfortunately what we had to use to make up for it.

After careful consideration with Kerahna, we have decided to reduce your ban to 7 days instead of the remaining 22 days because you have been cooperative and honest regarding the situation. We will not be returning your balance or potions however.

    See you soon, thank you.
    Bree
