Are you ratted? Well, this is an easy way to check for a RAT on your computer. Please note that some RAT's can't be found like this. But, this way helps me. It's also helped several people. -Type this in on CMD Prmopt.- cd %APPDATA% -then- dir /A-D /B -If this is found, its a RAT- *[YOUR COMPUTER USERNAME]*.dat -Rat 2- SQlite3.dll -Normal Ok files- ArbiBots.ini RSBot_Accounts.ini RSBot Accounts.ini wklnhst.dat How to avoid getting a RAT. 1. RATs are legal, in a sense, they are Remote Administrative Tools, what is illegal however is use of them without consent of the person who owns the computer you install it on (What makes it a Remote Access Trojan). The basic and most convenient way (From my perspective) to protect yourself from them is to scan your computer with an anti-virus regularly, don't download random programs, and check your processes to see what you don't recognize, if it appears unfamiliar, right click it and go to Open File Location to see where it is. Most of the time, if it is in Temp, or AppData, it is a trojan, spyware, or just something you've never noticed you had installed. If it is in a System32 folder the anti-virus should have picked it up already if it were. The feds recently shut down one of the biggest RATs out there, Blackshades, and it is now seized by the FBI. BS is said to have infected over 700k, I believe. The developers were actually arrested because of financial fraud and carding - a huge issue with that many possible computers (Oh, and they actually backdoored their program, infecting everyone who purchased it).
Um… come to think of it I have got a RAT on my school computer O.O At least it's just text support >.>
At my school the teacher uses one to control the class set of computers, during a tutorial, he/she will control all screens and display what they need to.
There are hundreds, if not thousands of RATs. Some are just by virtue of the fact that people install Teamviewer and set the password to 000000. Others are because of malware. There's no way that saying "if you don't have these files you're not RATed". I appreciate the fact that those are some of the possible RATs out there, but if someone were to follow the thread, they may get a false sense of security that they don't have a RAT when they actually do.
And also some RATs can be installed if someone gets a call from the Indian Tech Support, and is crazy enough to install a something. What they tell you to install is legitimate software, but they're using it for bad.
