    My Polaroid 8" ( ptab8000 4g ) does not seem to recognize its usb port anymore. It won't charge, No matter how many times I change out the cables. I can't even access it anymore since its gone Dead, and I don't have a dc charger for it.

    Maybe its just me, but, it looks like the port May be broken.. Not that I have anything to compare it to, but, it looks like maybe one of the cords did not detach properly, and some of it is still in there? I can't share any pics sadly, as I don't have a cam for that. Nor can I just Try for a manufacturer fix as I don't have Proof of purchase anymore =\

    Heck most of you probably never even heard of a Polaroid tablet. Thing's a real pain in the App markets..

    Anyhow, Help?

    Here's the user manual, but I don't have the reset button it says I should have;

    How many cables do you have to try? With my experience, micro usb cables can break the port, which i did with an mp3. If its not a cable problem, then you can buy a replacement charger for powerpoints from the internet.

    this is how a micro usb port looks like. Most ports looks like this on tablet or similar:

    Sometimes if you drained the battery you need to wait 2-5 min for the tablet to respond to a power source. Um yeah i hope something helps

    I've left it on the charger for 10 hours, untouched - Battery was still dead. It's a Micro I believe. Not Normal size usb, but not the super Tiny one. Nothing seems to be acknowledged in the USB port. I've tried the same USB type on different chargers, different cable lengths, even different cable Qualities. Nothing works anymore.. I would need to find an actual DC (Not AC) charger To get it to work at this point..

    I'll try to photograph the Port in the morning.

    Darky, I know this is a old suggestion, but try blowing into the USB part of it, sometimes dust gets in there and it can cause some minor issues.

    Old N64 cartridges taught me this ;p

    A good way to check the charging source would be to plug another device into the same charger to see if that charges. Assuming that you're referring to the micro USB port here, it's a pretty snug fit, so if a piece of another charger broke off inside it you shouldn't be able to fit another micro USB inside fully and properly. But don't just blow inside the port, check for bits of paper or fluff or stuff that could get caught inside, but not be blown out easily. You can also try to wiggle the cable while inside the port to see if maybe the port has come loose internally from the soldering. If it truely is something wrong with the port or the battery, then you might be out of luck, and it might cost more to fix.

    With that said, there are plenty of electronics shops which will fix these sort of things at a relatively low cost if it's something simple like a loose connector or a new battery, although depending on your budget, it might be better to sell it off for parts and get a newer model tablet.
