Again, ideally, the rating system would be much more balanced, counting ratings such as dislike, disagree, and no support as negatives, as that is exactly what they are. If someone takes the time to use that rating, they are saying they do not agree with what you are saying, which is quite obviously a negative opinion. It is not meant to be a personal attack; it is simply their way of expressing an opinion without unnecessarily replying to the thread. Yes, it would mean that the active users on the forums would have a larger red bar on their rating distribution chart, but there are always going to be people that disagree with you, and this is something that more people need to understand. It is not a personal attack; it is not an attempt to just "drag you down" per se; it is simply another way for users to express their opinions. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone else's opinion, as long as you are respectful about it.

In an ideal world, there would be nothing wrong with adding a salt rating, but I don't think that it would really work on these forums, for the time being.

People need to calm down about ratings and not take them so seriously. If this were the case, we would most likely be able to add more ratings, as the staff wouldn't have to worry about drama over people taking the ratings of others too seriously. There is no problem with reporting users if they are obviously abusing their rating permissions, but the problem is that this happens quite often, even when it is not being abused in any way, and the user is simply expressing their opinion.

Reading all the responses regarding it would cause more drama, I can see why. Reason being (I believe) is that if you make the salt rating a negative rating (red numbers below your profile picture) then it gets people pissed off because they don't want to see a lot of negative ratings on their profile, which would make them look bad. When we removed the negative rating for the dislike, from my perspective I've seen less people being salty. Gamzee (if you remember him) used some on me and I did to him and we did not get salty or pissed off because of that. Personally the only negative rating should be the rude. I liked how the devs changed the dislike ratings to a neutral rating.

Making the salt rating neutral wouldn't cause issues (unless that person has behavioral issues or is jealous they got a salt rating)

That's my point of view of this. Literally go on Mineverse, you'll see how many salt ratings are given and people don't give a fly about it lmaooooooo

I believe that a rating like this would create more problems than it would solve, forum users could rate abuse using the rating to trigger people.
It could be used against people, and they may take offence to it.
And it would only create another issue as to whether it would count towards positive or negative figures, or neutral.

The thing is though that you have many other ways of doing things like rate farming, why would somebody rate abuse with salt when you have things like the dislike or rude rating.

I was using negative ratings as an example of how issues could arise. It's more about the way people perceive ratings, rather than what type they actually count for. Even if, as I used in the example, rude ratings, were changed to the neutral type, I don't think that it would change much regarding how it is interpreted, aside from the fact that there would be no more red bar on the distribution chart.

Neutral,

I do like the idea of having a salt rating because of humors reason and my thoughts that its just there to make it fun. But I would see people not supporting this as this could cause several problems so that is why my decision is neutral for this one.
