Abi’s Aftermath Abi was feeling really depressed. She would do anything to leave an awful orphanage. Her father had run off when she was 2, so Abi never knew him, while her mother committed suicide when she was 9. At the age of 9 she had been living with her grandfather, until he got too ill to look after her. Abi was placed at a dumpy orphanage and was expected to call it ‘home’ for the next 9 years. Abi at the age of 18 was old enough to leave the orphanage. Unfortunately her parents had not left her any money. Her pocket money at the orphanage was $0.50 a month. Ironically despite being the poorest girl in America, she looked like the richest. She decided she was going to try sign up for a TV show to win money. Her auditions kept being rejected unfortunately, until she finally got a phone call saying she’d been accepted on a show called “Survivor” and that they sent a helicopter to her orphanage to take her to China. Abi was so happy to be accepted on Survivor. About a week later, she had been the first voted off. She was pretty grumpy about it and didn’t take it well at all. When she got home to the orphanage, she trashed her room. “Who would vote ME off first?” screamed Abi, “I was going to be a star!” She sadly looked at her audition papers she’d signed. She read ‘Abi Probst’ under the section asking for her name. She read the information of being accepted onto Survivor. ‘John Probst’ was the host. “He’s my dad?” Abi gasped. She raced to Mrs Horn, a grumpy old lady, who owned the orphanage and explained what was going on. She patted Abi on the back, gave her a hug, much to Abi’s surprise and called John Probst to explain the situation. About a couple of months later, Abi was reunited with her father. They lived in a big mansion, with all that Abi had wished for. All she wanted now, was to know why he ran off when she was young.
