This post is about 5 things about the Human Brain, this will not receive revisions unless science proves their research wrong.

The brain is the most complex organ in the body, able to control you. It controls your thoughts and stores your knowledge. Here are 5 things you may not know about it.

    Power Usage:
You may be thinking your brain uses so much energy, maybe 100-1,000 watts of power, when really it runs only at 15 watts of power. Our brains are meant for efficiency, not performance (like the item you are reading this on.)

    Memory Taken In:
We are able to take in about 33 Gigabytes a DAY. That is between 2 and 11 (depending on file type) hours of video and audio, which is not everything we take in. We take in what we learn, what we say, what we hear, see, touch, taste, think, etc. Your brain has to prioritize what is remembered and what isn't.

    Short Term Memory:
Everyone suffers with Short Term Memory lose, chronic or minor. Why? The brain can only keep 5-7 things in mind before it makes a mistake. Say you need to memorize 15 related words on the fly. When memorizing them, you may insert or replace a related word because your mind would be think of that theme. A study was done with 15 sleep related words, with sleep not being a word. They were asked if a few words existed, then said yes to sleep being on there. They all said they were the most confident about that answer, and all got it wrong.

    Paradolia (Pare-a-dol-ee-a):
When you hear this word, you may think it is a weird brain mutation, when it really is they way your brain remembers people. Paradolia is recognition of faces being the main way of remember people. We remember faces more than ones look, likes, and personality.

    Change Blindness:
This is kind of centered around memory. It is when your are able to see very obvious changes, like when a person is standing in front of a blue backdrop, camera moves away, then you return to him with a red backdrop. You may never know the difference unless they say so, or do a replay. It is done by less magicians and more psychologists (Si-call-o-gists).
