Hi The new 1.6 update requires a new launcher to be downloaded. Does this render the traditional launcher unusable? Will I still be able to play skyblock. I was wondering if there was a way of keeping both traditional and new Minecraft launchers. Forgive me if this is obvious, though I wanted to ask before I did anything. who has already upgraded? What are your initial impressions? I look forward to hearing what you think. Stu
You can easily switch from 1.5.2 to 1.6 So, once you got the launcher you can make different profiles, I got Lipokin1 and Lipokin2 (Lipokin1 for 1.6 and Lipokin2 for 1.5.2). You can easily switch between these 2 profiles with just 1 single click. I made it so I have 2 different .minecraft folders, .minecraft1.6 and .minecraft1.5.2 so my saves/servers/texturepacks and whatnot are all seperated
There's no reason you shouldn't upgrade to 1.6 since it's a totally different launcher, which doesn't overwrite your 1.5 one and you can easily access 1.5.2 with this launcher. I'd say: Just delete your current launcher, download 1.6 and do what I did Make sure you remove your .minecraft folder before you install the 1.6 launcher because it will overwrite it and might conflict with some files you've installed. You can always drag your important folders (like Screenshots, saves & Texturepacks) to your desktop and add them to your new .minecraft folder later.
Doing it now, so I'll let you know how I get on. I have it installed on two PC's, so if something should go wrong, I can still 'punch some wood' on Skyblock! Stuart
I cant seem to prevent it from over writing my jar file? I don't want to have to repeatedly install shaders
