You can still donate. Just for pets and that kind of thing. No game altering advantages.

What type of server was it?

Exactly. No one (at least I wouldn't) donate without enough perms to tag along with it.
It was a hub server with a custom Skyblock plugin and Creative, PvP arena, and other things were gonna be added soon but that was able to happen.

You can still try to do like custom tags in chat. Those should be legal if I read the thing right.
