Yeah, I updated my skin to have a santa hat and ever since then my heads have been switching between my santa hat skin and my previous skin randomly.

Yeah I sold some present heads and im scared to change my skin back bc i dont want to disappoint the people who bought it.

Do you notice any pattern to how they change? For example, do they only change when you break/place them? Or do placed or unplaced ones change randomly on their own? I've never seen heads change on their own, so any information you can provide will help.

Sorry I didn't see any pattern. One minute it was my old skin next minute it was my new skin and then after a while it changed back to my old skin. I didn't touch it

Was the head placed, or was it in an inventory?

my friends heads are placed on my island and her old skin was blue and her new skin is black and when I leave the island and come back it changes from blue to black vice versa

Yh it’s still a glitch I think. It is really annoying. But if you go into 1.12.2 it happens less I find.

I dont agree it was and is the same for me in different versions.

I ran into this issue while preparing for the drop party this weekend. It looks like if you have multiple heads created in a short period of time for the same account, with different skins but the same IGN, all of the currently loaded instances of that player's head will be displayed using the same skin, and the one chosen depends on the order in which chunks or player inventories are loaded and unloaded.

This only seems to happen if the different versions all have the same IGN. Players who change their IGN and skin at the same time can have multiple versions of their own heads without running into this issue. For this reason, it would probably be best to use separate alts for each different head you want to obtain, rather than using multiple skins for the same account without changing the IGN between skin changes.
