hi Timmmm
I'd say it's fun, but really hard. Its strange living at the same place you go to school, but overall the experience is awesome and I really feel like I'm learning important things.
I just moved upstate from the Bronx so its been kinda weird because the environments so different and I dont know anyone. I never really considered myself an introvert but talking to people here is weird. Also I wanted to ask what advice you have since obviously you did pretty well during hs? Like academically I mean.
I am currently failing social studies!! getting like a C- in math!! and like a C in PE, math and french!! :'))) and like the only subject I'm doing well in is english!!!! and I have no friends!!
awh, the youngins want advice
The way I got through high school was mostly just working at it. I'll admit that I understood a lot of stuff the first time around, but the main thing for me was to always find connections, ways to understand the material being thrown at me. It's hard for me to do well at something I don't understand, so if such a thing ever came up, I would just go home and try to make sense of it.
n ye, CMU is nice and hard, just how I like it
lol it's fun tho, I like the challenge... it does get to me sometimes, but I'm currently still alive, so there's that lol
My main issue is work ethic. I grasp material easily and Im a good test taker but I neglect homework and never study. Ive been hovering around 90 (A-?) but I know I could do alot better if I tried harder, so I guess sophomore year I gotta step it up.
Aaaalso would you say that participating in extra curricular s*** is important? So far all I've done is join MHS, prolly gonna do NHS when its offered to me, and might play JV football in the summer. Should I join clubs and all that bs?
do clubs and s*** matter????
like I can join the sports team but LOLL ew I'd rather die, and I did join the anime club but it's s*** and I don't even like anime much anymore so I don't go
my issue is motivation and simply giving a s***, I've fallen behind so badly because I never do my homework, I don't study and I rarely show up and when I do I can't bring myself to give a solitary f***
like I had an A in six of my subjects, with a B in science and C+ in PE (lol I don't do well in sports) in first term, where I was mentally doing a lot better than now??
like I'm surpisingly not that stupid I can understand content easily as long as I try
Homework I really only did because it was how I studied for the tests. Then when the test came around, I wouldn't really need to study except to look over the homework.
I'm currently studying computer science, hoping to go into game design. Super cool stuff, yo
Definitely 100% join clubs. They probably don't matter that much in terms of applying to college, but they were what made the whole experience enjoyable really. I was able to feel like I was a part of something, and in my later years I was actually in charge of some of them. I became close with the teachers who ran the clubs and made a bunch of friends with the same interests as me.
Yeah motivation is my issue aswell. Recently Ive felt more motivated and I know next year Ill definitely HAVE to step it up because sophomore year matters a bit. Speaking of gym, my teachers a lazy c*** and gives me an 87 every qtr and that s*** f***s my avg
Also skipping class is prolly a bad idea lmfaooo. Im not sure how the school system is in canada but if highschool is how its like here, then every year matters. 8th grade is middle school here and that s*** doesnt matter lmao
tbh you have to do well early to boost your GPA so you can give yourself a buffer when you screw up down the line. If you use up too many of your "just this one time" grades early on, then there's more pressure in senior year to finish off strong.
Computer science is really interesting. I still dont know what career I want to pursue and I feel like thats a major problem lmaoo. Ive been told that clubs and sports matter alot for college but I feel like thats bs and all they look for is GPA and SAT Scores. None of the clubs really interest me
Supposedly it's all about "being involved," showing that you're more than just a grade.I don't know if it has to be school clubs specifically, but I'd do *something* extra.
