Not allowed to appeal? He spent time and effort making that appeal and didn't break any rules making it.
If the idea that he isn't allowed to appeal came from Cyp's mouth himself than he needs to foodling grow up.
"Oh no, like 10 players off one of my servers play on another server similar to mine made by 2 of my ex-staff members, let's let my emotions get the best of me and permban them"
The oldest mention of "skyblock minecraft" I can find is from 2012 and it seems to point directly to this server. Is this the ORIGINAL server for this idea...? If so, doesn't that mean the rest are copies?
Annoying. That would have been an easy answer: Just go see how THAT server handled someone copying their idea. That would set a precedent for how knock-offs are handled.
Mineverse being blacklisted, has caused it to lose lots of players and therefore no more rank purchases, Cypriot cannot afford to have more people find a different server. XD
The other server that is run by Pc & Yoshi is completely different from this server. They haven't done nothing or "stealing" players from here. It was all merely friends that have come from noticing the Ip in one of their Skype profiles. Everything is the same in the sense of these being skyblock servers, but if you look at the other aspects on their server you can tell it's very different from this server.
Also, they took care of the advertising problem that happened with players because they know it was a wrong thing for some of them to be doing & mentioning the ip while being on a different server.
Did anyone ever look into what the original "block in the sky" server was? All I am finding are references to SkyBlock.net -- that's kind of important to any argument involving a "copy" allegation.
Just so you all know if you didn't know, Noobcrew was the creator of the concept of skyblock meaning this is the 'father' of all skyblock servers technically. So I guess he could say it's a copy, but then again there are so many skyblock servers out there. Just FYI.
That's what I found, Mr. Cheesy. So if this is the original skyblock concept then any other "block in the sky" server is a copy.
Doing something different (switching materials or plugins) makes it a derivative, but not unique. Actually, I wonder: Let me check the US patent office website.
[EDIT:] Pity, no patent filed. Wouldn't THAT have been nuts?
Yes. I suppose it does. And the fact of the matter is the only advertisements were made by other players than the ones that are banned and the only advertisement the creators of the server did was advertise on skype, which is not involved at all with this server. I see no reason to have them banned.
And then again, the ban message says 'Go copy another server'. So it should have nothing to do with player stealing?
Depends on the ign as you have to fit it all after "/ban (ign)"
If you want to test out in vanilla minecraft how much you can fit afterwards, feel free
I have no idea how to distill an entire volume of commentary into a one line ban message. I like the idea of a DM, though: Did you send a conversation request?
I don't believe he did, but honestly it's really confusing what he WAS actually banned for. Considering all of the skyblock servers 'copied' and created over the years and never once was there this drama. Or is it that he's 'player stealing'/advertising even though the only place he advertised was unrelated with the server at all.
The people that advertised the server on .net, do deserve a ban, but not the owner of the server. It's like I kill someone that works at a different fast food restaurant and my boss or the CEO of my company are sentenced to life in prison. It doesn't make sense?
Wow, that is intense. I was looking at this like competing ice cream stores on the same street. You're at the "murdering fast food workers" level. #McDeath
From a military perspective I find this line of argument interesting. Is the person in charge responsible for the actions of their members...?
That's a good question for thought. There was a problem with some staff advertising about a year ago here, so I guess if the person in charge is being held accountable here, that'd make things a bit complicated
•wince• I try to avoid any argument that starts with "The rules don't EXACTLY say..."
Not sure how much more I can contribute to this discussion. I tend to think in black-and-white terms on topics like this and it sounds like we have different perspectives.
Best of luck. +1 to you both for an adult conversation.
