It's not when you joined. It's how involved you are on the forums. You get the Well-Known title when you hit a certain amount of trophy points. Number of messages and ratings you get give you trophy points. Even the amount of time you've been on forums gives you trophy points but not a very high amount compared to what messages and ratings give you.
