One problem with that statement is that I never mentioned any number of people in my post, therefore never said I feel superior to "everyone else" as you say I am.

Well, using characters of the sort tends to be used as replacements for letters of other less appropriate words. And as it's 5 characters long, it could be a replacement for a specific word sometimes used to demoralize others.
