It's typically used to show creativity or a sense of the players personality, but it's definitely not required and shouldn't be a factor in whether or not it gets accepted/supported
'Yay'? You're correct. People tend to use it for importance. But my point was, the majority of colour comments on applications source from. 'I wish it looked nicer', and unfortunately people do judge off how colourful an application is.
It's a bit of an appeal to the masses, I think. While a great many commentators will say "use more color!" very few people will throw in "too much color, stop".
If you get enough positive feedback on something, the behavior repeats (even bad behavior). Another example is the lengthy "My Traits:" section on nearly every application--that is NOWHERE in the template. Where did it start? Why is that a "good idea"?
Colour doesn't matter tbh, if anything it makes it more attractive. Plus this isn't like a real job, so it can look "unprofessional" and reflect the person's personality.
It doesn't make it more attractive when I read an application, if anything I just ignore that it's coloured because in actual fact; it's useless being there.
Well if people put it in then they have taken the time and effort to make it look beautiful, and tells the reader a bit about their personality Also content over colour!
