The movies are good, but what I like about the books is how the way she portrays the characters changes varying on Harry's mood/emotional maturity. It's honestly brilliant how you can see Harry grow up based on the way he views the world because even though it's not first person, the books are written from his point of view. It's a coming of age story about Harry and how he deals with death.
It's very well done, and most of the conflict is in his head. It's my favorite book series, and it is simply not possible to portray the stories the same in movie form.
I love reading about the conspiracies. For example Harry is actually a disturbed patient in an insane asylum and he copes with living there by using imagination... that kind of stuff just really makes me happy and shiver ;3;
