Selling him was a good idea on Tottenham's part. They managed to get money instead of the gamble bonuses from Real Madrid.

Agreed Sala, Clyne, Varane and Hummels are 3 solid defenders. Clyne has been world class at Southampton, but Southampton will not want to lose another full-back... We would have to pay so much for him

Varane will be tough to get as he is still quite young. Real Madrid will want to keep their rock-solid back-up centre back. Especially with Ramos and Pepe being two very aggressive centre backs. They are likely to get a lot of suspensions through reds and accumulation of yellows.

Hummels' contract is running out. But Dortmund would like to hold onto him as a commanding player. He is a leader, a very good one. If we get hold of him, I will be so happy.

Apparently Hummels is quite unhappy at Dortmund, thus I believe we have a great chance of getting him, as the only club to target him. No matter what, I would not pay such a fee for one player. Even Ronaldo, who was younger at the time, didn't cost that much.

I personally think we still have too much of a top heavy team to purchase Bale. Hummels is he better signing no matter what.

Yeah, our wings and attack is great, with Mata, Rooney, v. Persie, Falcao and many other talented strikers, thus there is little to no need for Bale. Although he could be useful, I doubt he's as essential as other targets.. Defense is good too, but it is mostly unexperienced youngsters like Paddy McNair (whom I personally adore) and Shaw. It needs a strong leader such as Hummels.

I also would like to add that Hummels should replace Evans, whom I think is underpreforming.
