    As we all know
I have a crappy computer, I can't get a new one and I have a tiny little crappy fan which half the time doesn't even turn on (it plugs into my computer like a USB) and the wires are brokenish, I'm just going to state that I have no money, none. Not even $1. I not a cent to my name. So I can't go out and buy a new laptop or a better fan or get it repaired.

I want to know ways not to stop overheating but to make it happen later because its going to overheat regardless of how I try to get around it.

I have a laptop bench thingo which I place my laptop on, use the fan to elevate it and use a stand to make it so my laptop is kindof in the air so there is complete ventilation since my actual fan is broken.

At this rate I can only be on minute for 3-10 minutes before it over heats, when my guardian isn't home I steal her (actual) fan and plug it in and put it on at full blast and at those times I can play for however long its plugged in. Although this way is extremely bad because it chews up the electricity so I need to find another way to fix this.

Although your broke, the cheapest solution I can think of is a cooling pad. I had the same issue and purchased mine for 10$. Lasts hours now before needing to hibernate for a cool down xP

guessing the cpu fan isn't running? otherwise it wouldn't overheat
if there's even a setting, may want to try googling it, but if your fan has built in monitoring, it can swap fan speeds and be louder but far more efficient at cooling down the laptop as the cpu is the hottest component.

Yeah my fan doesn't work anymore, I tried doing this and changed my fan to "Active" instead of "Passive" but it did nothing different, although if I do manged to get it fixed that will surely be a huge help so thank you for that XD

Try proping it up so that there is constant airflow underneath it.

open it, if possible, then try to A. oil up the fan or B. get the fan to spin again by manually spinning it for a bit

Get a cooling fan plate from ebay and place it under.
ChibiBerry is this is still an issue or can it be archived?

Ok. First up, you need to open up the laptop. Depending on the make and model, you may be able to find a "disassembly guide" on the maufacturer's website, or else you can youtube people doing teardowns.

    1) Purchase a can of compressed air (roughly 10-15$), and when the laptop is open, clean out the dust especially under the fans and keyboards.

    2) Depending on how detailed the guide is, you may be able to remove the CPU and GPU heatsink, and you can purchase a tube of thermal paste ($5) and apply it liberally before replacing the heatsink (it's the copper looking thing).

    3) Purchase a cooling mat thats powered by USB and stick it under the laptop

These things you can sometimes chance across for cheap. But they're much cheaper than say, getting a new fan or new laptop.
At worse you can just use a vaccum cleaner or a paintbrush in placeof the compressed air, it's better than nothing.
