You can get into a lot of trouble. Copying something is still plagiarism even if you change the words. In high school, you could fail the assignment, fail the class, or even be suspended. In college, you could be expelled if it's serious enough. In the professional world, you could be sued and lose your job. It's not a good thing to start doing.

If you put the name of someone who did the work of the website you got our copied the information from, it's OK. But if you blatantly copy and paste without giving the writer credit (on the website) it is illegal :3

 

Well said, but I believe in some cases, even if you give credit to the author, it is still illegal to copy what they said. Not too sure but I have been studying and using MLA citations and plagiarism at school for the past 2 years.

Copying someone else's work is absurd. You do your own thing and be you, don't try to be someone else to get what you want.
That being said, it's okay to look at accepted applications for inspiration and structural reference. I agree with Lemo on that.
