I can't watch that movie after watching divergent. It freaks me out knowing that in FIOS her boyfriend is her brother in Divergent. x-x
TFIOS was so overhyped, and most of the stuff people quote from it John Green has said himself was pretentious. The whole shtick with the differently sized infinitely isn't even mathematically true. While some infinities are bigger than others, there are the same number of numbers from 0 to 1 and 0 to 2 and 0 to 1000. The difference is countable infinities, like integers from 1 to infinity, versus uncountable infinities, like all the numbers from 0 to 1. Also, Augustus, for as charming as he may seem, is totally fake. You can't just walk up to a random girl and tell her she's beautiful and *poof* the love of your life. I thought the point of the story was to be more realistic than other love stories, so why the cliches?
I only read a few chapters of TFIOS, but I completely can agree with you. The story is well written, but not very realistic--in a few ways.
