    TLDR; No.

So, here you are... A happy-go-lucky forum user just happily browsing the forums. And what's this? There's new mod applications up? How fun. So before you go ahead and comment on it, consider these points:

    • Are you a staff member?
If you answered this question with a 'no' then perhaps you should think this through. Giving criticism to an application when you yourself are not a staff member, nor never have been a staff member is pretty stupid, what can you offer? You've never been promoted to a staff member and therefore don't know what it takes, I mean if you knew what it took then surely you would be a staff member, right? It's quite ironic telling people how to improve their chances of being whatever they've applied for when you, yourself have never even been a staff member.

If you've answered 'yes' then go ahead, if you want to help them out fire away, after all it is what you volunteered to do hun.
    • Do you want to give them a 'support'?
Does your opinion truly matter? Do you think whoever does the promoting these days go "Oh this person isn't what we are looking for, but wait they have 200 supports! WOW better promote them" because I bet my hat they don't - feel free to prove me wrong though. Just because you think your friend is trustworthy or whatever the heck is your reason for supporting doesn't mean they should be promoted. They made the application to be assessed by admins, not for you to tell them you give them 50% support for some daft reason, especially when you're not a staff member.

    • Do you want to offer your two cents?
This links to the first point, just don't comment if you haven't even been promoted, it's honestly so stupid.

Who cares if you hate this person? Or the opposite, you completely love this person. Your biased opinion isn't going to change anybody's mind because when you're so deep in the community that you're familiar with this one specific person and you have this opinion about them, you're not going to be able to see what the admins think by their application etc. It's like with a job application (assuming the small percentage of the community who are over the age of 13 have applied for a job), you send in your CV and they assess that before seeing how you are, though really this is volunteer work since you don't get paid to ban people for doing things virtually.

But to sum it up... Just don't unless you're actually a staff member, it's not your job to criticize or support people when it comes to this.

    Should you comment, no.
    Can you comment, yes.

To sum it up... people are always going to voice their opinion on peoples mod applications as long as the option remains.

You can't stop the people posting in mod apps, unless you add special permissions. Face it, everyone is entitled to their opinion, staff or not. It does not mean they're right, nor are they wrong. It's Cyp's decision in the long run, it does not matter of the amount of "support".

You can easily bribe entire staff team to support you and this is why the support team consisting from regular members is important. Otherwise, what is the point of posting applications when you can just create app conversation with staff members in it?

Doesn't really matter though, I mean it's all about how many replies and views you have on your application, hopefully a way to catch Cyp's eye.

I did it with Carrot, so I mean, yeah.

When I first joined, I supported people because I was friends with them. But I've realized not everyone is ready, friend or not. I honestly regret doing that, since I've noticed it's silly to.

Lost a bit of friendships because of that. Sucks, but the truth hurts.

I kinda stopped commenting on applications in general, once in a while I'll just comment "support" on someone's application, if they truly deserve to be a moderator.

Most of the time, I am not supporting applications, mostly because they need a wake up call.

There's a lot of applications I don't support, but I just don't comment since most people have already stated what do improve on.
