Do you own a Chestshop on org? Are you one of those donors with stupids amounts of redstone? Well this is for you. Inspired by Kaybubs' isle I made this auto-stock checker for those who don't want to retype "stock" and "out of stock" every time, or have people right click to check if things are in stock and so on. It's very simple and I spelt a couple hours compacting and designing new concepts. If you want to modify the design and make it more compact or show off a cool application to - go ahead. If you have any ideas on how to improve it then reply. The first, main and smallest design is this: but this design didn't satisfy me as from some angles you could see behind the chest, so this second design came into play for those like myself: I also considered that glowstone is an expense that some people may not want to pay. So I made a redstone torch design : The more compact version of the torch design, but looking behind the chest >_> : Light above the chest: Light above the chest, slightly modified for people like myself: Also, this is a big one but I thought I'd design a tillable one for those who want long rows so yeah... this took a bit to configure but hey it works Happy birthday to me Edit: The inspiration - http://i.imgur.com/p1gkMfe.png
Once I make a shop, Im totally going to make my chests all fancy like this. I have so much redstone, I have no idea what to do with it.. XD Wonderful thread, KhVT
Hehe, if you have any ideas on stuff you want to automate/make fancy. I can probably figure out a way to redstone it x)
If anyone's wondering about the logistics about this, it's basically that redstone comparators sense item inputs and outputs, so if there are items in the chest, the light turns on. Items run out, and the light turns off. Boom. Magic.
Design idea coming relatively soon are Stock checkers where it not only shows if it's in stock but by how much. Using comparators you can display how full a chest is quite effectively. The problem I'm sure I'll encounter is how to display it, but I'm sure with tinkering I shall overcome this. Other than that, in wall designs have been made that I will upload later Thank you for all the kind words.
I'm not sure if hoppers are enabled, but they are, you can put the items through a cycle, and every time they cycle through, the light flashes.
Well it wouldn't really work, without hoppers obviously, but let's say you use hoppers and dispensers to make the items cycle through in an unlimited item transfer cycle, (hopper below the chest, and into a series of more hoppers and a dispenser to put the items back into the chest. You'd need a clock to power the dispensers, of course.)and put a comparator off of a chest. Connect a light to the comparator, so that every time an item goes through the chest in a cycle, the light would flash. But I suppose they disabled hoppers so it wouldn't work. And it is kind of inconvenient to buy things, if the items keep cycling. But you could make it so only a click of a button or lever would start the cycle. Just a thought, never been too good with redstone, and haven't really played in a while.
I'm not sure this is 'sticky worthy' but it'd be pretty awesome and I'd totally amplify the thread. Anyhow the design I made for you should be up later today when I get time.
