Hey there, I was wondering if I could get a little more information about what rules Staff have. I'm a bit curious to know the rules/limits staff can go. I only know one rule and it's that staff can't ignore people just because they don't like the person. Could you fill me in with more rules that staff have? Sincerely, Panda^.^
Well, you can't abuse powers, you have to follow the rules of the server and forums that apply to you, can't leak info, and that's all I can think of right now.
As Lemo said, an example of this is a mod banning a player because they don't like them, they always have to have a good reason. This can be muting, banning, kicking or temp banning. This can result in a demotion or a ban.
Rules (as far as I Know) No Abusing Powers No Banning, Kicking, muting, tempbanning without reason Follow rules of server Don't Mistreat staff above you. No Leaking Info Respecting Players (Just cause you have mod doesn't mean you can treat others like S*** No Swearing have to be Active
Mods have to help players, and be respectful to others, They do what they can, And I believe that becoming one would be a good idea They also cant abuse power, or not be active for an extended period of time, In either of these situations, the mod may get demoted.
Mods duty is to make sure the server is balanced, and the community is taken care of. All of the staff tries their best, I know that for sure. Mods enforce the rules, making sure things are in place. They catch the spammers, and deal with them accordingly, same with advertisers, before there was island protection, mods dealt with griefs, they used a tool/ plug-in that allowed them to deal with griefs, they don't have this anymore due to island protection, but back in May, the word was put out that it would be added back, but hasn't been added back just yet. Moderators simply enforce the rules. Being a moderator means that you cannot leak any information within the staff team. There are times where you must keep your cool, and know that you have the upper hand. When a moderator bans a player, they have to have enough evidence and reason to ban the player. As for being a moderator, you have to set an example, so this means a mod cannot go around breaking the rules, cussing, and what not. Being a mod, means you also have to respect others, even if they mistreat you. Keeping your cool in tough situations is always a the best thing to do. When you're a mod, you're applying your free time, it doesn't mean you have to dedicate all of your time to the server, but it would be nice if you'd come online ever now and then or when ever you can. Being a mod is a tough job, it's not all fun and games, and when you become a mod, you have to be responsible for yourself, and your actions, one mistake could cut you off of the team. All of this information is what I gathered from others, when I asked them about being a moderator, and even just simply observing them myself. Moderators are wonderful people, and I have a huge amount of respect for them. I hope this helped you!
They're also the face of the server. You have to be a good role-model. Mods have a lot of influence on players. If one acts up, it will make other players think it's ok for them to do that. Also gonna throw in, although this should be pretty obvious, if a mod ignores you it's because you asked them a question/told the something that they don't want/have to answer. Typically these are questions like "Can I have stuff?" or "Can I be staff?" etc. Of course, it's at the mod's discretion whether or not they give items to players. Usually if I was asked for something like a bit of food or cobble, I would happily provide it, but if you became dependent on me for materials I would ignore you.
Basically all of this. We cannot abuse our permissions Publicly fight with other mods Abuse players on the server We have to follow all the same rules you do and we are expected to be role models. We are also not allowed to leak to players mod information
