they really did say what you said albeit in a different format, although their format was much more considerate of one's feelings.

one's feelings? It's a 3 year old mod application form that saying is bad. I don't have anything against applicants it's not like they get another form to use.

I'm probably going to put in a mod app. It will most likely get rejected but maybe people will take the opportunity to follow my lead in making unique apps

I don't think applications get rejected.

    Cyp just never promotes them.

There's no way of knowing if you have no chance or not lol.

Never getting promoted is the same as getting rejected. Albeit in a more politically correct manner.

But how do you know you'll never be promoted?

I've been through one promotion wave without being promoted, does that mean I'm rejected?

After a certain amount of time I would say it's very highly unlikely you will ever be promoted. Maybe not after the first or even the second or third wave but your chances get smaller with each wave that passes

To me, as long as my application doesn't die (like get no replies and end up on like page 3 of the applications) I have a chance.

EDIT: People don't seem to understand this answer much and are disagreeing with it. As long as my application doesn't die, meaning I keep acting like a good candidate in order to get supports so my thread remains relevant, I have a chance.

People just figure you get free staff on every single server. They come to apply, leave, and never come back.

I think we should just get rid of the format, and put a new one in place

Im going to stop you right there. Im the only mod that has a mod app guide up.

People do not get picked because they follow a certain format (though they need to have followed crews). It is the information within the app, plus their presence on the server and forums.
I can show people my guide comfortably to people and if they choose to use the format its their choice.

Yes there is a trend but it is far from stupid. It is one way in which people have decided to layout their applications.
Even if players take direct from Crew's template players will still suggest the same improvements. It is the information in the app that matters. Not all apps need traits, not all apps will be overly long but the information will make or break the app, not the "trend".

This "stupid trend" has been used successfully for some mods. Does not mean it will work for all and does not mean deviating from the trend give you a better chance at mod.

There is no problem with mod apps, there is no problem with the trend and if you dislike the way mod apps are then no ones forcing you to read.

tl;dr? there is no problem with the way mod apps are laid out, the trend is fine and honestly if you want a unique app then break out of the trend. Plus my guide isn't going to change too much until I think of a new structure I like

I personally believe there should be no format.

There should be a new format so we can't copy previous applications, and all applications should be private, so there's no influence from other people or applications.
"But how do we show support?" You ask?
You don't. Peoples' support doesn't influence admin decision to make one moderator. Take that away. No foreign influences from other people, their suggestions, or previous applications and formats. It's all you. It's completely up to whatever admins we do have to decide.

Lmao you're not the only Moderator who has every made a guide. I'm pretty sure Lycel has aswell and a few others. I wasn't targeting anybody.
That's literally the whole point. I'm not saying that the applications have no detail and they're all rubbish, I'm saying that everyone is following this trend, thus making every single app the same. How am I going to give feedback on an app if there are literally 30 different apps that are almost identical.
K? I wasn't looking for an argument or any shade, I just wanted to shed light on something that I think is an issue and see if anybody else shares my feelings.
Semi agree. You can't really have no format at all...
I disagree. Players are alot more active then administration and their feedback is very useful for admins.

I don't really see why it should bother you

Anyways, let them do the application how they want, in the end if the application isn't what whoever does the promoting wants, then they won't get promoted.

It's just pretty shitty how every application is the same. It doesn't irritate me I just wanted to address it.

This is a forum. For discussion. Discussion about things that tie directly into the vested interest of this forum are usually pretty good topics to create threads about. I'm honestly getting sick and tired of people saying "it's not a big deal" or "why do you care?" Well I care because this is where i spend a lot of my time and I happen to enjoy the community. So if you don't feel that way then that's your prerogative, but don't brush off the fact that I do.

It really annoys me when people think I shouldn't care about something just because it's a game or just because it's the internet.

You (not specifically you, Cthulu :p) don't know me, you don't know how I react and feel towards things. I feel strong things for this community.
