Ok so this may be a bit of a long story, sorry :/. About a year ago my friend and I were playing on a skyblock server. I had played on that server for close to a year at that point, but my friend was new to it. So being the good person I am, I decided to help him get started. I gave him some basic things like wood, cobble etc. I read the rules prior to helping him to make sure I wasn’t breaking any, which I wasn’t. A couple days pass and my friend got off to a good start. We usually Skype call each other when we’re playing, but this one particular day we didn’t. We just decided to talk through the chat. And this is when it happened. my friend types in the chat “Thanks for the help.” It turns out that a mod decided I couldn’t help my friend and banned me for no reason. I put in a few complaints but the admin of the server did nothing.

Why do you think you should be a mod?
Just to clear this up first, I know I’m new to the forums but I have a lot of in-game experience. I have previously been a mod for DeathWalkNetwork so I have experience as a mod as well.

Why I think I should be a mod:
I think that I would be fit to be a mod because:

- Past experience
Like I mentioned I have been a mod before. I have the experience and knowledge to handle situations like a good mod should. I know what it’s like to mod and be good at it too. I once got mod of the week which is one of my achievements.

- Helping and caring
When you are a mod one of your jobs is to be as helping and caring as you can be. I am generally a nice person and I always am up for helping people who truly need it. On the weekends I help my grandma at her store, and that requires me to be kind to everyone I meet not matter how they treat me.

- Diligent and hardworking
I’m 15 and the oldest of 3 boys. Being the oldest I know what it’s like to have to do all the hard work around the house. I always strive to do my best no matter what I have to do. I like to go by the quote: “Never give up on something you really want. It’s difficult to wait, but it’s harder to regret.”

-Fair
I know what it’s like to have unfair mods. So I will always be fair and patient with people, because no one likes an unfair mod. I think everyone should be kind and fair to each other but sadly not everyone is like that. But if I was mod then at least there would be one more nice mod out there.

-Seriousness
Being a serious person is good in multiple situations. Though I may make a joke here or there, I will be as serious as possible when I must be. If you are not serious in a situation, your message will not get across. In the case of punishing someone if you are not being serious, you can make a bad decision. In addition if you are serious you will be more likely to make the right decision. Being a serious person is a key part in being a moderator.

Activeness
I am an extremely active player. Many people will see me online while they are on. This allows me to help many players that require help. Most of the time I am online I will not see a moderator online. Being online at these times allows me to see many people breaking the rules. Those people are often not seen by a moderator, allowing them to continue breaking the rules. I always report these people, but reporting someone takes time to get a response. I feel confident when I say that I am a very active player.

What qualifications do you have?
Because I have been a mod before i know the various commands and the right time to use them.

How long can you be active on the server everyday?
During the summer I am free almost everyday all day, with a few exceptions.
So anywhere from 4-12 hours a day.

How long have you been playing skyblock.org?
I have been playing skyblock.org for about a month and a half and I love it.

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?
Like I said before, I have a year and a half of experience as a mod.

Huh, its weird that you've never seen me online, because I'm usually always on. I've been trying to make an account for a while but I couldn't remember my email password. But thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to make some changes.

 

Last night, I was on for about an hour and a half. You had been on for about maybe a hour by the time I had checked. I had already read this so I was going to just keep an eye on you and see what you'd do and such. To my disappointment, I didnt see you talk not even once in either global or message. I was inclined to tp to you to see if you were afk, however, I decided not to. But the fact that I did not hear a word out of you and that was the first time Id seen you, it was a bit disappointing. Im not sure whether or not you were afk (Which hopefully you werent afk the entire hour and a half I was on), heres some things to work on:

• Be more active in chat.

Next time I see you on, I hope to actually see you participating in chat and helping out if needed

• Familiazire yourself with the forums

Youre new to the forums. Take some time to get to know it. Moderating the forums is half of a moderators job. Not only that, its a very fun place to be.

• Get to know the community more

With activity on both the forums and in game, this will come easily.

• Fix your application

The spacing is a bit wonky and I think I saw a few grammatical errors. The spacing is less important and just bothers me. You dont, at all, have to change it, but I thought Id point it out anyway just in case you want to. :3

Ill be staying neutral until I see some of these things change.

I've been online sometimes and I do /who (or /list) and I see your name pop up, I usually watch the chat most of the time, but not one time saw you talk. I hope I can see you improve on that. I have to give half support or no support as of right now.

Sorry I can't give you Any Support. I Liked the application but it lacked detail and I Don't think I've ever see you talk in the chat. For these reasons, I can't give any support but I'll be watching the chat and hopeful y you'll change my mind

Thank you Carsen and Survy. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

 

You know some times people are building things and that eats up their time.
The people that are building don't think "huh I should stop building and talk in global".
Also some times people don't care if they're are talking to some one constantly.

Carsen some times people don't find a need to be social 24/7, this is Minecraft 95% of the time people are building things or crafting.
Also some times to much detail is bad, Zyro's is a great size and he did not drag it out into long boring read.
When others drag theirs out it becomes horrendously boring and daft to read.

And talia are you serious "it hurts my eyes" now that's just a complaint just to complain.
if you wish to complain go to the World of Warcraft forums.


I otherwise support ZyroShadows as a moderator he is great member of the community.
And also just because you don't see someone talking every chance they get does not mean they are afk.

If you guys/gals want talking go play EVE online.

Just so you know, Im not saying "Oh you have to talk constantly, you cant do anything else in your time on org, just talk and help... constantly." My point was that for an hour and a half I was on, messaged him "Hi", and never heard a response, which then led me to believe that he was afk. The only thing I did was suggest that he is a little bit more active in chat. As a moderator, and even while I was applying, I had to learn how to multitask, like building and reading/replying to comments in chat at the same time. Its a good thing to practice while you are applying so that your not thrown into the position thinking its a piece of cake and whatnot. And honestly, since Ive posted that comment, Ive seen Zyro be much more active in chat. Thats the reason I posted what I did. Now I see even more potential in him.

Tl;dr Im not saying "ONLY TALK AND HELP", Im saying be a tiny bit more active in chat and the community.

tibbersannie, rating our posts disagree won't change anything. A moderator needs to help while building also, like chatting. If he doesn't have time for that, then he shouldn't be willing to be a mod.

redcarsen I have seen ZyroShadows a couple times and I see him talk in the chat but I'm pretty sure people need to send private messages sometimes and I think that might have made you lack his support

 

I'm going blind (my eyes are in a bad enough condition that I'm pretty much blind already.) and the colors were burning my eyes due to the brightness.

 

Support! I do see you online occasionally (most likely because of timezones). When I do catch you online, you are always chatting
