Please only leave honest and constructive replies, especially the mods! There are ideas in the comments, read those before you post! This is a discussion thread, so if you you want to give out agree/disagree ratings, please participate and actually quote other peoples opinions and discuss them!

    Stage 1:
The person makes an application. Very much of the support is just friends supporting him so they still count as friends.

    Stage 2:
The person gets mod. This is where he is tested, so he has to be very active. Moderating gets annoying to him.

    Stage 3:
The person either gets pro- or demoted. The mod is still very active in the beginning.

    Stage 4:
The mod becomes more inactive, seeing that he now has the rank. Full mods are hardly ever online and that causes problems.

    Possible Stage 5:
The person gets promoted to S-MOD. The person is now a half active mod, mostly more active then normal mods. The person is now trusted and hardly does not make any mistakes. This is a good mod. In rare cases, when a person gets smod, the person is almost never online.

The story of a mod is currently very sad. What I personally think is, that cyp should be way harder with keeping mod. Also we need more general mods. Tmods do currently not have many permissions and cannot help most people.

Mods cannot use logblock. They are hardly ever able to get griefs, that means coopmate or /trust griefs, on record.

Mods cannot monitor the entire chat while clearing up griefs etc.
I'd like the idea of adding chat-mods that are chat only. That would make modding more enjoyable for mods, and maybe the story won't happen / won't happen so fast.

I think the active mods are afk too much. If they /afk and are gone more than 10 minutes, the server should disconnect them.

    Just a suggestion.

The positives of the current system though is that you get rid of all those who don't deserve mod and keep those few special peeps who are helpful and respectable.
Honestly though mods are people too, there's school/work, chores etc. to do in real life as well and they're still investing what time they can spare into the server to potentially help out. They deserve respect for that.

Also, what are you after? Someone who lacks an IRL social life and spends a good 80-100% of each day on the server? Unlikely but I guess you can find a few... :t Then there'll be issues with quality of mods as people >.< Too many issues

Our primary task is to watch the chat, helping you with trades or issues is because we want to. Honestly if you ask me to teleport to your island to LogBlock or move a Spawner we don't have to , we do it because we feel like helping you. The key point here is that our chat moves almost three times as fast as a normal players, now add in all this new spam for banner shops, no matter what we try and do it either ends up in muting the people who send their message twice a second.

At the end of the day, we're still players who want to build and play the server as we used to. But at the same time we want to help, as much as we can so 9/10 the progress on our island comes to a halt because helping other players takes over. Then the whole time on the server ends up just moderating which cuts the fun from the server. I can assure you that mods don't regret applying, but sometimes they want to actually play the server and it just ends up impossible.

Moderators are human also, we get busy, we have lives to live and some of us are adults with full-time jobs, or other commitments. We miss things and we miss them even more when they're constantly spammed in our face. Why do you think most mods sit quietly and stop joining in conversations? The moment we do we get 20+ PM's asking for something that doesn't actually require us. As much as I enjoy talking to people, when I get spammed to do something I cannot and you don't listen then I just give up trying to talk to you.

tl;dr: Our main job is to watch the chat, not move your spawners.

We need more mods to spread the load.

1-2 mods on at any given time (if we're lucky enough for them to both not be afk) is not nearly enough to cover the hundreds of players on the servers.

I will try and be brief.
The story is pretty inaccurate at least for a lot of mods I have come across. But you are right, after a certain point some mods do seem to get bored, or have enough of moderating. This is a personal thing rather than anything to do with cyp, unless their reason is because of cyp.

Yes we do lack commands now to deal with certain issues. That certainly isn't helpful to mods enthusiasm. Right now there is no incentives for full mods to work hard because the smod rank doesn't have a lot more permissions than full mod. So at times working hard at moderating has no pay off.

We basically moderate chat now and I guess forums is more about moving spambots. I don't see too much issues atm with mods. Unless you have been a mod, I don't think you can accurately recount how we feel about certain things.

I am opposed to afk kicking on net.

I can understand that. Meaning, we need more mods on the server. Basically a "cover" system. Mod 1 and 2 and 3 cover mod 4 while building. And then they switch.

Having masses of mods doesn't improve quality, it decreases it.

I'm curious about your perspective. Why are you opposed to afk kicking?

I'm not suggesting you give it to anyone that asks for it. Currently there is a severe lack of active moderators.

But there are quite a few people who have applied that should be considered.

Trial mod is a thing for a reason. See how they do. It shouldn't be just the introductory stage of moderating. Applicants cannot accurately show how they can moderate without being given an actual chance.

EDIT: Meanwhile, this has been a thing for 25 50 minutes with no moderator tackling it. There are 6 online.

I feel that even with an afk mod present it calms chat down a lot. If they need to afk and get kicked people will assume not mod is on, they can start playing up. Sometimes ive been afk but not and seen how the chat is, people telling others to calm down because theres a mod on. Thats pretty much why. Its not the most significant reason but yeah.

Oh yes, spambots is an issue, I can only demand mods handle them and not sit around on the forums and do nothing. You have a valid point in a few aspects, but promoting more will not suddenly make everything go away, it will worsen it.

Need to get rid of the bad mods before new can be promoted.

I agree with a lot of this. I just feel new people should be selected sooner rather than later. If you remove the bad mods right this second, activity will not change with the others. The server will still be in dire need of new moderators. There will still be multiple threads a week discussing the lack of staff service.

People like JJ, Nocturnish and some others who have applied should be allowed the chance to moderate and show how they will compose themselves once they get the tag. Of course activity and maturity will pick up instantly for people as soon as they get the tag. There's one thing applying and trying to keep enthusiasm during their application, and another thing getting it and proudly using it (in a good way).

Also, I don't understand how promoting more can worsen things. I'm not quite sure why there is such a delay in promoting people, when there is clearly so much demand for it. Again, I'm not suggesting that anyone who asks for it be promoted. Careful consideration should still be taken, just a bit faster.

We're all human. People can lose enthusiasm during the application stage in some cases.

Long time since i've been mod, but I dislike the little staff i do see active online.

I agree with Zambiana with getting rid of all of the inactive mods, and let in a group of t-mods that can help the server. When I was online there was a small group of mods, and we eventually became like a little family. We were all learning the ropes together, and had a friend we could ask if we were unsure.
Now its a handful of mods that i see active every once in a while.

Maybe if they start loosing intrest when they're not a t-mod, demote them one level at a time, notifying them that if they dont shape up, resign or become more active. *note ive only been on for maybe a week so im sorry if i got some things wrong.

Saw a mod earlier just muting spammers without warning. I'm not naming names publicly. I'm putting the name in a hidden box below so that if it is a situation that needs dealing with, it can be.

    Hidden Content:
**Hidden Content: Content of this hidden block can only be seen by staff members**
I understand the frustration, but a level of calmness needs to be held.

The mod sent out a global warning, but didn't take into account the people joining within seconds of the message.

There's no real way to announce to the person joining seconds after. Then they'd have to be spamming.

But when mods mute people because of their spamming, its because its publicly written in the rules. If they go to all of the warps then they should've known not to do it.
