So yesterday I was temporarily banned for two hours for joking around with an old friend. He stated that his computer was slower than it used to be, and I said "2muchporn". Not naming the moderator that banned me for it, but this is what I come on to see being spammed today. ( One or two mods on, not naming any.) Personally, I don't see how the word "porn" is offensive by any means, but if I was advertising a website or explaining what went into it, sure I feel it would have deserved a temp ban, but I didn't receive any warnings, get a mute, was just a straight out temp banned. I've personally seen people get away with much worse than someone saying porn, so I'm just curious why the word "porn" is offensive and is a bannable offense.
As the majority of players on this server are between ages 9-13 we try to keep the chat G rated, and you do not hear the word "porn" in G rated movies. However you should not have been banned immediately for this. The usual treatment for inappropriate language in chat is two kicks followed by a mute, and then a longer mute if the language does not stop. If you don't want to name the mod publicly you can feel free to send me a PM and I will talk to them about it.
aboose actually not kidding, who tempbanned without any warning? warn first, or if you have to, a mute or kick.
Oh, I've never inserted an image before so I don't know how to do it correctly rofl. Also Movie ratings have changed drastically over the years, I've seen "G" rated movies with explicit content in them, such at cussing, images, alcohol, and so on.. But in the image, people were advertising pornhub, saying that they are throwing sex parties, and all type of "Not so G rated material." And they get away scotch free with it.
Basically when we talk about "porn" we are talking about material in which is by law restricted to persons of a certain age (Adults 18+). So to bring it up on a childs server is wrong. However, sex is different but again we dont like public advertisement of sexual activity. Now the chat to me is more pg and will always be pg. Parents should be looking after their kids if they are under a certain age on mc because we cannot guarantee a g rated environment. If you were tempbanned just for saying that, please do message me, or zambiana who it was and we will gladly have a word with the mod because you deserved a kick at most.
That type of language is definitely not appropriate either and I agree is worse than what you said. If if went on for a long time they probably didn't get kicked or moted. Sometimes the mods might not respond if they are afk and accidentally forget to change their status. If that is the case or if there just aren't any mods online, you can always post the screenshot in a report in the forum.
I'm not sure how long it went on for, I just got on for a few minutes to collect my kits to see that being spammed in chat.
^^^ Plus, non-staff members cannot see when a player has been kicked. So unless this player was continuously saying this, they probably were warned or punished eventually. We try to keep the server as appropriate as possible, but every now and then we oversee some.
