Hey, I'm rycbar124. I'm 18, from England and am currently unemployed, meaning I have a bunch of free time on my hands. I'm applying to become a moderator because I believe I can help make a difference to the server. Since I decided to make myself known, a lot of my posts on the forums have been discussing ways in which we can improve the SkyBlock experience. Not many of you know me as I've essentially been a lurker for a few months. I originally joined in November 2014 under the name of HerSh33. I've since lost the email/password to that account on the forums. I understand the fact that since I "came back" from lurking on the server quite recently, a lot of you will believe I am not ready to become a moderator because you haven't seen what I can do. I completely understand that and will stand by this application for as long as it takes.

    Which timezone are you in?

I live in England, thus I am in BST (British Summer Time) which is UTC + 1. When the clocks go back in October I will be back on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) which is UTC. These are physical timezones based on my location, but due to me being unemployed with a lack of real-life things to dedicate myself to, my sleeping pattern changes practically fortnightly, meaning I can be on BST one day and EST the next.

    Which languages do you speak?

Just English. Pretty boring if you ask me.

    Have you ever been banned?

    Nope.

Why do you think you should be a moderator?

I believe I should be a moderator because I feel I can really throw myself into helping make the server a more enjoyable place to play. I have a lot more interest in chatting and interacting with other players than building on my island, which I feel is expected of moderators, hence the hard work put into the role. Some of the qualities I have I think can also be considered valuable in a staff member.

    For starters,
I am well informed. I know the rules of the server like the back of my hand and I have the solution to many of the common problems that arises on the server for players. Generally if I'm not on the forums or in a daze running around my island, I'm paying close attention to the chat for questions or problems people are voicing.

    As well as this,
I have spent time watching other moderators the best I can to see how they handle different situations. I have thought over their decisions and come to viable conclusions as to how they have made them. I believe I have the stuff to also make the right decisions, and as a trial moderator I can only grow and learn more on this subject.

I am quite a tolerant and calm person when it comes to interacting with others. The way some people compose themselves can be very frustrating, but I've taught myself to take a deep breath and keep a certain image intact depending on the situation. An example of this is recently I have been trying to help keep spam to a minimum. I private message culprits suggesting they should tone it down, and inform them that one message per page is enough. Generally I do this in a friendly manner with a please and a smiley, but sometimes a quick "Hey, tone down the spamming. It's a bit much." is enough I have found. If they continue to spam, I message them again in the same manner, not once showing frustration at them having ignored me. A moderator is there to keep the server a fun place to be, and being mean, snappy or short with players is no way to compose oneself.

I know when to put my serious hat on and when to take it off. I find a lot of moderators outside of their original friend "groups" keep their serious hat on when interacting with other players. As someone who has needed help before on other servers and on other games, a lot of moderators all over the internet are guilty of this. This makes them seem less approachable and the player talking to them can feel like a chore. Moderating will not be a chore to me. I don't have one solid friendship clique to keep to on the SkyBlock server, and I talk to and interact with all sorts of players both well-known and not as much, both old and new.

Due to my sleeping arrangement, I can (as said before) switch my timezone quite freely. I think this is a good quality to have as it means I can align my sleeping schedule with a timezone that isn't as well covered by moderators as others.
I can essentially be on call at all times.

When it comes to problems between other people,
I've always been non-biased. I'm not the kind of person to let my friends get away with things or abuse my powers to put them in a better position to others. I weigh both sides and adjust my demeanor and decisions accordingly. I firmly believe evidence is key, and assumptions should be kept to a minimum. Every generalization and assumption by me has and will be well thought out before making public. I'm not afraid to be wrong. One can only learn from one's mistakes.

    To finalize my qualities,
you can trust me. I won't abuse my powers and I will try my very best to be the best I can be and make the server a fun place to play on. This server is huge and has a lot of responsibility to be spread out to people, and you can believe me when I say I can handle it.

How long can you be active on the server every day?

I am physically able to be on the server as long as I am awake. I do have other games and communities I belong to, but I can definitely dedicate at least 6 hours a day to being on the server and helping out if need be. I can't give you an exact schedule as my sleeping changes a lot as well as where I'm needed on the internet. All I can guarantee is those 6 hours.

[EDIT: I feel it worth mentioning that since a lot of people (like moderators and other candidates) are going back to their education soon, I could be a great candidate as I have nothing IRL to keep me away from moderating the server, thus when other mods are learning or doing homework, I can be online.]

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?

Yes, I do. Both on Minecraft and off Minecraft. I once moderated for a medium sized server maybe 2 years ago. I was very good at it if I do say so myself. I've also been a high rank in some clans for games such as DayZ or GTA V. In those, I was expected to be organised and keep to my responsibilities and roles which I did very well. I've also moderated for some decent sized channels on Twitch. I have found I like to lurk a lot and step in when I'm needed, basically being a moderating ghost. That is how I most like to do things, but I know I will most certainly make myself known on the server due to the current lack of active moderators. People need to know that there is someone there for them.

Thank you for taking the time to read through or skim through my application. Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated and I hope to some day be able to help you more than I can currently. If you have any questions, don't forget to ask in this thread or shoot me a PM! I check the forums multiple times an hour when awake, so chances are you'll get an answer pretty quickly.

I never see you online, explain that? And why say "timezones", you know his timezone, and you know yours. You can tell us. Please do not assume players are inactive, I see him/her actually so I can say that for a fact.

I'll say 80% support for now
This is a pretty good application but...

•Add some color please. Not that it effects the app much but it makes it look nice.
•I don't see you online (maybe timezones seeing as I spend most of my time playing sb).

    Good luck -Layla :)

    Thanks guys! I appreciate it~

I am usually online, just not very talkative. I tend to mini-mod privately. Thanks for the partial support though! I'll see about adding some colour.
