Saw this under upgrades and thought of this:

Personally I agree with this too, it's risky putting your trust into another player to upgrade you when they (or their parents!) could do a chargeback and get you banned possibly even months later.

I agree that trading IG money for IRL money or Paypal transactions should be against the rules. So I thought perhaps you could add "gift voucher" to donor shop similar to those won if you get the top voter prize. Then players would be able to get an upgrade from another player for IG money without risk of chargeback; rather than the person doing the upgrade to another person's account directly, they can purchase a voucher that the player can buy off them and then they can upgrade themselves using the voucher.

Voucher codes must also be traceable to prevent someone just using an alt account to do an upgrade on themselves and charge back with no risk; there should be a way to link the voucher with the person who used it, so that in the case of a chargeback the donor status can be removed from the person who cashed in the voucher even if it's not their fault (I guess after this point it's treated like a scam). But at least, there is no insta-perma-ban for both players like there would be if they upgraded you directly; adding in this step could mean that the player who did a chargeback can be banned but not the player receiving the upgrade necessarily (though of course they should still lose the rank as the server didn't receive the donation).

Also, having a gift voucher option could be nice for players who want to help upgrade someone but don't want to do the full amount. I have people asking me to upgrade them from Donor25 to HR, it's a big jump of 40$. I know I'm poor atm but if I did have the money to spend, I might want to do maybe 10$ or 20$ towards it but not the whole 40$. Having a voucher code system could in theory mean that I could contribute what I wanted to someone looking to get an upgrade and someone else could put in the rest it would make it easier for players looking for the 25-HR upgrade to find takers; I imagine it's easier to get two people to upgrade you 20$ than one person to do 40$ at once.

And finally there might be some people who simply want to give someone a voucher code as a gift, to donate to the server once they've already upgraded themselves. I want to support the server again in the future but I'm already an Overlord. I would totally buy gift codes for some friends on .Org; I'd prefer this to upgrading them directly from my bank account. Although I'm a nice and trustworthy person and I'd never do a chargeback, it just seems kind of weird to me, friends have upgraded me as a gift and though I'm really grateful and I trust them, I do feel slightly uncomfortable that the upgrade is connected to my account but I have no control over it. In a worst case scenario that person could turn rogue, chargeback my donation and I could be banned :/ I'd prefer to give a voucher, and let the person receiving it decide what they want to spend it on and have their fate in their own hands

 

I actually like this idea. You have my support, being able to buy vouchers would be a very nice thing to do
