Everyone is confused about why hoppers are disabled/can't move items now, and the only thing people have really been told is that there was a dupe glitch. I'm going to do my best to explain the glitch and the future of hoppers on multiplayer. I'll start of with the glitch. Ever since hoppers were added into minecraft a duplication glitch that exists with them. When hoppers are placed facing a chunk border, and moving an item to another chunk, an issue arises when those chunks are loaded and unloaded. When the chunk with the hopper is loaded, and the chunk where the item is moving is unloaded, the server doesn't know where to put the item, and it occasionally gets duped. You can look this up on YouTube if you want, but I tested this then reported it on .net about 8 or so months ago it worked, and nothing was done. They just recently disabled it, causing a lot of confusion. So the future of hoppers is pretty grim. I've seen some people on the forums saying blah blah blah the admins will fix it. This isn't something an admin can just fix. It's a bug with minecraft, and only mojang can fix it. Until it gets fixed, maybe in a future update, hoppers will stay disabled for good.
I used to say I didn't need hoppers, then when they came... I was like...how did I live without you! And now I'm sad they are gone ;-; Mojang should have fixed the glitch before patching obby gens ;-;
If we can't use them, maybe Cyp could create a trade where you can receive four or five iron from a villager by giving them a hopper.
It's actually really inefficient on .net . Tried it awhile back, and took like 45 mins to dupe 1 thing. 45 minutes of doing warp grass then /home.
nope it doesn't. The comparators used in the video are just to show when an item enters the hopper. They were used in the video to purely give a more visual representation as to when the item gets duped. You don't actually need them to create the glitch.
