Figured I'd make a fun debate thread. Where does racism come from, and why are people racist? Post your answers/beliefs below. You know the drill, no flaming, insulting, etc. btw doing a project
Racism is stupid. Doesn't matter if you are black or white. Nothing is different except the color of your skin. How is that a big deal? Gee, he is darker, I hate him. <-- That is just ridiculous.
It's just disrespect for someone's race. If someone was African American and someone call him/her black, it would be considered racist. This goes for Asians too, people stretch their eyes out to make them look Asian, and say, "Ching Chang Chong". Those 3 words are referring to China. The answer is that no one knows why people are racist, it's just people who want to be mean. Some people take it seriously, some take as just a joke.
Heres not only racism but discrimination in general in a nutshell: People discriminate against minority groups because they are easy to target. If there's a lesbian, transgender, black, jewish person, they're easy to target because there are less people to stand up for them. Especially before equality laws were implemented, whether they were or not in your country, it was easy to target the small groups. Just like a school playground, people enjoy picking on the weird kid. The kid no one wants to be seen around. The kid with a lazy eye or a lame foot.
The belief that some people are better than others and those who are better than others believe they should either shed sympathy on the less best or kill them off for being less best. But I'll say this: orientation is not the same as racism. *I'm just putting that out there.* Anyways, I don't see me as better or worse, rather I don't care about race. Which I think is really interesting because young people today don't mind racism as much as the old people do, and I used to believe that adults are supposed to be the ones to be fair and be a good example for us minors. But, evidently that's not the case. But yeah, racism shouldn't be happening but there it is. Thanks triangle trade.
People can be racist for many things. Hatred: They can have a bad history with that race or something alone those lines to provoke them. Fear: They can secretly fear the race so they treat them with fear for them to fear them. (If that makes sense) Love: Now this one doesn't make much sense to some people so i guess it couldn't make sense anyway... Some people may be rude or hate a person, finding a way to blame it on their race. Inside they could be madly in love with that person. Its kind of like when someone acts like they hate you just so they can cover up the fact they like you. Comical: I occasionally use this one but not harshly. People can be racist for comical reasons. They can be racist about their own race, someone else's, or just to get laughs. I don't see much problem with this one, but hey, everyone has their own opinion. Fury: This kind of goes along with the hatred thing but anyway, that individual may be particularly furious with that person on something they did, insulted you, or something around that era of fury. They may start looking for worse things to say so they bring up their race for power for insults I could name tons more but tbh I'm sketchy on racist things since personal things happen, not in a bad way, just would get a lot of h8 for it.
well racism is just an thing similar to bullying.it's annoying and not human oh in my country it's illegal
I basically think the reason that everyone is racist about them because they think that everyone should look the same or that they are better than others just because of things that are different about them. Their is many people who judge them for being different from many other people and about history in the past. In situations I feel that people judge you base on your skin color instead of getting to know you. With me it doesn't matter what you look like or if your different because I think of the personality of the person. Idk just how I feel about the topic lol c: ~Sunneh
Racism didn't stem from nowhere and no one really knows where and why it started, medieval ages were the worst for it when people were hung for it. It's the same with discrimination, it's not that people are racist because we fear people, it's because it's been done for ages and it's kinda indented in us. People wont suddenly stop becoming racist, it's something that will continue until humanity fails and dies off, it's damn near impossible to explain.
It started with an opinion. Opinions lead to disagreement. Disagreement leads to fighting. It is a never ending thing.
How do you know that it started with an opinion? Do you really think the soldiers looked at someone who was black and started to kill them? Racism is only worsened by war, where groups band together and fight other groups.
Well for all i know ive been brought up disliking some people due to race. Not much else i can say really. I dont like when racism becomes extreme intolerance and attacking people for race. The response to me being discriminated against was to discriminate against the discriminators. Guess its learned. When a parent had an argument with someone from a certain race, they just decided to hate. I just keep what i really feel hidden when it comes to race.
This is just my opinion so don't worry if you don't agree with it. Racism started as groups of people fought against each other. This hatred for each other was passed on from generation to generation. Parents have their opinions on different races and these opinions are passed on to their children. For years I have had to deal with mild racism. Which is why I was pretty much constantly in fights as a child. I guess over time, I have learnt to deal with it and accept that people will have their opinions on races. I don't mind it when my friends make fun of my race, it's just a little bit of fun It's just when those chavs I have grew up around think they have a right to say stuff...
I might be 11 so sorry if I am wrong I live in Cape Town South Africa and it is a very racist community The colored people are living in apartments and are unable to buy big houses I live in a house while people around me are treated unfailry and have to live on the streets
